Interesting that Balboa will have a 15s team entered even though they havent had one all year.
Nice turnout from out of state teams.

When are the pools supposed to come out?
The top seed for 15's should be SASVBC, but they will not get it because it is a new club.
The #1 seed for 16's is probably gonna be Baja because they won the Holiday Classic. Doesn't matter though because they will decline their bid anyway.
HBC 18's is for sure going to get the top seed in 18's.
17's is hard because they did not have their own age group at the Holiday Classic. Maybe they will give it to Coastal. That was the #1 seed 17's team last year.
Anybody know who's on the newly formed Balboa 15's team?

So for the 18s division it looks like the top two seeds should be #1 - HBC (#1 in points / #1 at the Holiday Classic), #2 - Baja (#2 in points / #2 at the Holiday Classic). Then it gets a little more messy. Does SCVA use the points rankings or teams place at the Holiday Classic to seed the Invitational? Or a combination of the two? If the points are used the next top ten teams from Southern California would be #3 - 949, #4 - SCVC, #5 - Seaside, #6 - Team Rockstar, #7 - Bones, #8 - Balboa Bay, #9 - Highline and #10 - VCVC. If place at the Holiday Classic is used then it would be #3 - Seaside, #4 - Team Rockstar, #5 - SCVC, #6 - 949, #7 - OCVC, #8 - Bones, #9 - Balboa Bay and #10 - Highline.
Then where do the non-SoCal teams rank? Before the Holiday Classic, Pacific Rim had a strong argument for one of the top spots, but after their showing last weekend they will not be in the top five. Which other teams deserve a high spot? Ultimate, Coastal and SPVB all finish tied for 5th at Nationals, which one of them break into the top five or top ten, or do all of them? Last year Coastal got the #1 seed in the 17s division at the Invitation and finished tied for third.
So what does everyone think the top ten will look like?

What about Pac Rim's 'showing' says they should be dropped out of the top five? Their only mistake was being seeded seventh...

When I watched Pacific Rim last week, there was nothing about their play that screamed defending national champions. Their best win was against Ocean Bay who ended up in 10th place, they struggled a bit with Seaside 17 who ended up 23rd and dropped a game to Pulse who ended up 27th. What SoCal teams should Pacific Rim to seeded higher than? Which should they be seeded lower than? Other teams that were seeded around Pacific Rim at the Holiday Classic moved up - Baja started at 5 moved to 2, Seaside started at 6 moved to 3, Team Rockstar started at 8 moved to 4. Where should Pacific Rim be seeded at the Invitational then?

Did Donovan Mitchell play for Pac Rim?
I see he was on the team list but I had read an article saying he was giving up volleyball to concentrate on basketball.

So for the 17s division who should be the top ten seeds?
If SCVA uses points the order of SoCal teams would be: SCVC, SG Elite, Balboa Bay, HBC, 949, Coast, MB Surf, Bones, Seaside and Balboa Bay White. If SCVA uses place at the Holiday Classic the order would be: SG Elite, HBC, SCVC, MB Surf, Seaside, Coast, Bones, Balboa Bay, 949 and Balboa Bay White. Either way the same teams, the question would be what determines Invitational ranking more, points or place at the Holiday Classic?
What non-SoCal teams should break into the top ten? Bay to Bay, Pacific Rim and Coastal all have good credentials but where should they be positioned? Pacific Rim placed 15th last week at the Holiday Classic between SCVC and MB Surf. Any other teams travelling in that deserve to be top ten?

15's seeding is what people would expect. Glad to see SASVBC is the #1 seed.
In 16's I think MB SURF is way too low at #15 and they ranked A`o A Koa 16-1 way too low at #27. They are really good.
In 18's Hawaii Elite was ranked WAY too high at #4. They are a bunch of club-level players.
Hitmen in the 16's division got seeded accordingly at #8 but I think SPVB Mizuno should be seeded higher than #18.
Coastal should be seeded higher in 18's.
