Hawaii Elite won the last bid for 18s, Balboa Bay silver medalists at Nationals last year without a bid. I wonder how many at-large bids for this year.

I heard Balboa Bay 18s missed their playoff match for the final bid after Baja declined. Any truth to that rumor? If so, what happened?

Not sure what age group you are referencing, but 16's and 18's were each over 55 teams, and 17's was over 40 teams in Chicago in 2014. At the 18's level in 2014, only Ultimate had a bid from SCVA when competing in Chicago. Throw in BAJA, and 8th place out of 57 teams got a bid.

So what does anyone know about Ryne Benson being released by Bones? Rumor I heard over the weekend. He wasn't there and his name is off their website. Yea, with him, I think they could have done better

Interesting that for 16's and 17's this year, SCVA gave out the higher percentage of bids. Last year at Chicago (6 bids)... 18 open - 57 teams 11% got bids 17 open - 45 teams 13% 16 open - 56 teams 11% SCVA this year (10 bids) 18 open - 84 teams 12% 17 open - 50 teams 20% 16 open - 62 teams 16% This year Chicago (6 bids) 18 open - 63 teams 10% 17 open - 60 teams 10% 16 open - 52 teams 12% With 10 bids on the line at SCVA, it is still the better choice in trying to get a bid

I heard Balboa Bay 18s missed their playoff match for the final bid after Baja declined. Any truth to that rumor? If so, what happened? That is weird. The teams who were in the gold bracket (top 8 teams) received their bids on Saturday night after they won their challenge match, that means Baja declined on Saturday night. How can a teams coach/representatives not know taking 11th place gets you a bid? The only thing I can think of is that Balboa Bay lost to Bones on Court 2 for a 1:00 scheduled game that was closer to on time while Hawaii Elite lost to 949 on Court 1 for a 1:00 scheduled game, but Court 1 was an hour behind, the 949/Hawaii Elite game ended closer to 3:00. I watched the 949/Hawaii Elite game, I do not recall seeing any Balboa Bay players at court side. All the tie breaking rules are in the manual, looks like some people need to read up a little.

I believe Pace already has a bid or knows they are going to get it back on the east. Traveling to Cali for competition and recruiting exposure.
Don't think Pace wants a team from east getting bid knowing that they don't deserve.

With 10 bids on the line at SCVA, it is still the better choice in trying to get a bid The SCVA Invitational is the hardest path to a bid. It is the first tournament so no one comes in with a bid in hand. Most of the non Southern California teams who place in the top 25 of the 18s division will gain a bid through another bid tournament and end up at Nationals. Last year Spiral 18 did not get a bid at SCVA but then won Nationals. SCVA Invitational is a proving grounds, look at the scores of so many of those games that went to three, some really fantastic teams came away empty handed, no other bid tournament in America is as unforgiving.

Last year they did the same thing (I think 17's???) but they brought a couple of kids up for the trip, and didn't want to lock them into the roster. Assume they will get their bid at Cam-Am if they are good enough to finish 3rd at SCVA.

Yea, with him, I think they could have done better They played Kyle Ensing on the right side, I thought they looked a lot better. One bad match in the whole tournament, but still got a bid. Any idea if Benson is going to play for another club?
