Bones also finished with the 3rd highest point ratio of the tournament. Just don't know how they'll be without Ryan Casey at the helm. He is basically a club coach version of John Speraw. He turned a very mediocre Bones 16's into a pretty formidable 17's squad.

#12 from LIVBC 17s was a man amongst boys this tourney! Speaking of LIVBC, did anyone see the match between LIVBC 18s and 949? One of the worst displays of sportsmanship I have ever personally witnessed. One of the players from LIVBC approach the 949 coach after the match, grabbed his shoulder and made some very disparaging remarks...kudos to the 949 coach for restraining himself and walking away...

I'm not going to name names because I wasn't there but if the player is who I'm guessing it is that is not out of character. I've seen players from that team get in verbal arguments on and off the court. Also seen bad acts of sportsmanship by parents from that club, really a shame and I hope they take this seriously.

It's New York. A different culture and attitude. But still inexcusable.

Last year at the same tournament, an LIVBC team was watching my son's team play another LIVBC team. The non-playing LIVBC team sat on our team's side behind the service line and would yell crap while our kids were serving. Not a heinous thing, but pretty poor sportsmanship.

Yeah a similar thing happened with my team last year. We were playing in the semi finals of a qualifier and LIVBC 18s sat there and yelled at us throughout the match. It was just rude

my sons played club vb 2000-2010, and we saw many livbc teams during that time. let's just say livbc has a well-deserved reputation for this sort of thing...

I can't believe you guys are complaining about kids yelling while your team is serving, that stuff happens all the time and it will happen once your kids goes off to college. As long as their not being vulgar, cursing, talking about your mom and racist, then there is nothing wrong with it. Boy will be boys and I'm sure they are not the only ones who cheer like that.

#12 from LIVBC 17s was a man amongst boys this tourney! Dylan had a great tournament. And afterwards he was enjoying a meaningful conversation with the coaching staff from UCLA.

15s The HBC 14 knocked Pali 14 team out of gold contention last year at this tournament and beat them in the finals of the junior boy's classic and at in the quarterfinals at nationals. They continued the streak of beating Pali by beating them in semis at this tournament. The HBC 14 team beat 949 14 at the Jr Classic (I think 25-23, 25-23) and at nationals (I think 25-23,25-23) and now in 15s beat the 949 15 (#2 seed) team at this tournament in the quarterfinals. The HBC team performs very well at the big tournaments.
MB Surf played well throughout the tournament. They did lose to Pali 15 but came back strong. They beat SASVBC in the semis in 3. SASBVC looked a bit inconsistent losing a game to HBC 15 and then winning the rest easy and same thing against HVA 15.
How was it determined who got the 7th bid? I see HVA 15 got it over HPSTL 15.

16s Spectrum beat both the number 1 seed Baja and number 2 seed Balboa in the gold bracket to take the title. They didn't lose a game during the tournament. Impressive tournament for Spectrum 16.

17s No real surprise that SCVC 17 won it. They have looked impressive all year and are definitely the team to beat.
LIVBC was able to pull out good wins over 949 17 and Balboa 17. Pac Rim had an impressive run of beating everyone in their path - 949, SG elite, Bones - before losing to SCVC in the semis.
949 17 is an interesting story. 4 of their main 9 players who won nationals last year have not been playing on the team this year and they were really struggling this year. One of the players out is a middle who is out with an injury. Linsky is probably the most improved 17 player. He has filled that role well. He also played a varsity high school basketball game and scored 15 points on Saturday night in the middle of this tournament. They lost 2 of their top 3 outsides from last year but adding James Anastassiades improved this team a lot. Now they are back in the mix.
Coast started the year playing really well - beating SCVC in the first tournament this year - and now they didn't even earn a bid. 17s was a tough division to get a bid.
