Brandon Hicks(middle on HBC) has now switched to outside to help his team to increase their teams chances of winning. Did it help increase their chances to win when they lost to Balboa and Seaside yesterday?

Top east coast players for this class? I can't speak for the rest of the East Coast, but for the southeast area of Virginia there will be nothing of substance coming to the stage for a long while. The Coastal Volleyball club lost about 50 boys this year when they chose not to have any twos teams at the 17 or 18 level and then combined several of the younger (15 and 16 yr olds) boys onto three 16's teams and have one 14's team. This left nothing for the beginners. It seems that Coastal is not concerned with developing talent. It looks as if they are streamlining the club to be nothing but national level teams. The Coaching expertise has drastically fallen off. Here is what Coastal will bring to the table this club season: The best of the area will be the revamped 18's team. This team could be the best team to ever come out of the Coastal Stable or Virginia. Too bad it will be the last! The 17's team is and will continue to be very underachieving, too many individual players with no team play. The 16's National team does have height and a couple good outsides at 6-6 and 6-5, but no experience anywhere else. One of the outsides might turn into a very good prospect, or both. The next best thing will be the 14 National team. There could be some surprising stars surface here if the club hold together and doesn't implode.

Top Midwest players for this class? You can look at the Palos 16's thread for information on the top players at Palos which is a pretty good representation of the top players in the Midwest(in my opinion at least). Headlining the all tournament team was Ian Piet(MVP, Ultimate 16 Gold, OH, #38), Anthony Phfiefer(Best Server, Ultimate 16 Gold, S, #62), Jacob Shapiro(Best Attacker, Bounce 16 Red, MB, #92), Caedon Hsieh(Best Setter, Bounce 16 Red, S, #56) and Aidan Mcguire(Best Libero, Ultimate 16 Gold, L, #6). Granted these are only 5 players out of the many that are in the Midwest Region, there are plenty more that are very good players from HPSTL, MVC etc... as well as good players on teams that didn't perform as well at Palos

Very strong overall player, and very fun to watch

That being said, is your problem with the all-tournament team the fact that it's so small and therefore doesn't encompass all of the teams and players or do you not agree with the selections?

Some of these players are on the "all tournament" because their team won. Like the Aidan Mcguire is not that good, he's just on it because it has to be from the winning team.

I think that it was an accurate representation of the guys that were their for the whole tournament. But it was also based on who did well, I think that some of the SPRI guys played well but did not win therefor not getting spots. For the overall list of top recruits I think SPRI will have some of the top recruits (they always do), along with MVC and HiP. Both MVC and HiP were only there once and both beat Ultimate who won the whole competition.

Probably not the most accurate representation. The all tournament was only from the two teams that won the point series. You could have put one of adversity's outsides or RS in the mix along with a few others. Probably just too much work to go through the voting etc to compile a true all tourney team. The players on the list were some of the best there but there were others that did deserve to be on there. I would have put adversity big outside, Runbirds libero, MVC's outside, HPStL's RS on the list as well.

If you were to have a true all-tournament team (best player at each position, 2 middles, 2 outsides, 1 setter, 1 rightside, 1 libero) who would be on it in your opinion?

Alex Anastassiades, 6'7 OPP from the HBC (not sure what team), committed to Long Beach State. Thoughts?
