Anyone present at the championship match who knows who made the All Tournament team? I know Smith was MVP. Can't find info on Any one else at the moment. Joe Norton has to be on the all tourney team after this weekend's show.

Can guarantee it wasn't Welsh-White, 2nd team AA, after he went 0-1-2 with 1 block error. SC MB's combined to go 2-2-4 in 4 sets played. Even with those outsides & wood, that makes it hard to win a match.

Per Springfield release, we can add Woods and Vega to the All Tiurney team.

I was only able to watch the last set of the D3 final. It appeared to be a great match and both New Paltz and Springfield deserve credit. I am not an expert on the rule interpretations, but with Spgfld up 18-15 in the 4th set, the NP coach had an emotional outburst with the down ref. On the next two points, Ricardo Padilla had kills, but appeared to lightly touch the bottom of the net on his follow thru and was called for a net violation by the down ref. I hardly ever see this called during other matches. It sure looked like the referee was reacting to the temper tantrum. Is this infraction consistently called when there is a minor infraction and the player does not touch the top of the net? Was it called consistently earlier in the match? I would sure hate to see a referee change the criteria for a violation at that crucial time of the match.

A- any touch of the net when "in the act of playing the ball" is a violation this year in the men's game.
B- even though the announcer kept saying "net violation," from Radu's reaction & the look of his blockers, I would imagine they were arguing a centerline violation which is why you say his guys point at the ground.

Hey Carthage mommy/daddy/kitten/puppy/fishy/gerbil- the Red Men just got stampeded by the Mustangs 3-1. Side note- the Naz gym is a joke and shouldn't be allowed to host the NCAA's. That ceiling is an abomination. Let the boys play! I bleed red, but I have agree that was the most disappointing performance I've seen from my Redmen.. Is it fair to say that the Carthage setter blew that match for them?

Agreed. It was more about the centerline vs net violation. I watched it back and you can clearly see that the attacker feet landed on NP side and there may or may not have been contact or interference but I think it was called due to safety. USAV 11.2.2: Encroachment into the opponent’s court with any part(s) of the body is permitted, pro- vided some part of the body remains either in con- tact with or directly above the center line, and there is no interference with opponents. In addition, completely crossing the center line with the foot, feet, or hands, or encroachment with other body parts, must not present a safety hazard to opponents. Those two back to back calls on Padilla followed by the attack error by Woods was a huge momentum change in NP favor. SC was cruising up to that point.

I'm shocked Springfield ran the middle only a handful of times. They started to become very predictable, and it put a lot of pressure on those three guys. NP had 5 guys who could all hurt you. Norman played great this weekend, and was a huge difference maker offensively and from the service line. The Springfield libero really impressed me. He's going to be one of the top guys for the next three years.
The two under calls in the 4th set were definitely huge. Honestly though, Springfield was running their offense very tight to the net the entire weekend. Stevenson was complaining about that as well in the semi-final. Not sure if it was on purpose, or a setter error.
Congrats to NP. They've been the best team all season long. They've defied the notion that it's impossible/tough to beat a team three times (Nazareth, Stevens, Springfield).

Let's just get it straight, springfield had an AA middle, julian welsh white, because charlie Sullivan "owns" the committee. No AA middle could possibly get THAT ignored in a national championship. And his stats would say the same. Good middle, not AA good.

I bleed red, but I have agree that was the most disappointing performance I've seen from my Redmen.. Is it fair to say that the Carthage setter blew that match for them? I wouldn't say so. Carthage dug their own grave with the amount of unforced hitting errors in opportune situations. Shields and Craft had chances to keep the ball in play, but kept hitting at the blue sport court. Our passing line was out of rhythm from the get go. Sure we lost some balls to the treacherous domain that is Nazareth's gym ( I agree with whoever said Nazareth's gym should be nixed from NCAAs), but that was common to all parties this weekend. Reinsel had to make do with what he had, which led to a lot of predictable pin sets when they were out of system in serve receive. Even more so when we had the opportunities to set Tulacka, everybody in the gym knew the ball was going to Tulacka. I would have liked to see a few more backrow attacks to help free Tulacka up, but again Reinsel had to make do with what he had. Stevenson is a great team that simply outplayed us. They did their homework, had an extremely disciplined block and defense. They understood the setting tendencies of Reinsel, the hitting tendencies of Tulacka/Shields/Craft, and the defensive tendencies of our defense (exemplified by that oh so beautiful shot over Hansen by Wingert in set 2?). Giving credit where credit is due, Stevenson played one hell of a game and deserved the win. Shorts continued his dominating campaign this year through the NCAAs. How he did not earn AA honors is beyond me.. And to Shuttinitdown how Julian earned AA honors is beyond me. A good player, but Sullivan's hand in the committee definitely showed itself with that decision.

And his stats would say the same. Good middle, not AA good. You realize that Charlie Sullivan is not even on the committee and the only thing he has a say in is his nomination. The selections were made by the AVCA Men's Division III Volleyball All-America Committee: chairperson Patrick Shawaryn (Juniata), Cal Wickens (Nazareth), Scott Wright (Regis), Hudson Bates (Marymount), Dan Ames (Dominican), Evin Giglio (Wentworth IT), Danial Levent (Baruch), Robert Cole (NJCU), Keith Koch (Medaille) and LJ Marx (Carthage). These are the individuals who voted on the All American.

LOL "the midwest sucks"
excuse me but loyola is the back to back defending national champ comprised mainly of midwestern players at the D1 level. (yes I do know they just got knocked out) The D3 national tournament is comprised of ALL east coast teams and ONE midwest team. So the one midwest team gets knocked out who the frick do you think is going to win a tournament of all east coast teams EVERY YEAR?
Yes I recognize the over-hype surrounding carthage all year, but do the math before you rip a whole region of student athletes, genius.
