Why? What's wrong with singling out a talented player and trying to rattle him/her? It may not be nice, but so what? Because it's just a game, you are just a spectator, and that "talented player" is still a person who deserves to be treated with respect, just like all people are. It's called decency. You should try it. Makes life a lot more worth living.

Decency is for social events. When money and services are exchanged, it's no longer just a game, it's business.

Volleyball fans for the most part are tame compared college b-ball fans. The worst heckling I have ever heard has been at Christian affiliated schools which is quite ironic to me.

BTW, I took perverse pleasure in telling the drunk posers and their bimbo girlfriends to shut the h ell up on the numerous occasions they happened to make the mistake and sit near me in the Thunderdome and in Rob Gym.

What money, what services? $7/ticket, scholarships, atheltics fees included with the price of tuition, etc. Nobody want to pay to see their team lose. I'm sure your authoritative presence struck fear into their hearts. So, decency is important at volleyball games, but not in discussion forums?

You're telling me... We took a bus of students to the blunderdome 2 years back, and we had a MUCH WORSE experience than that!!! It was a zoo! Literally!
Drunken Gaucho fans took it way too far... To the point of harassing and verbally assaulting the student girls, picking fights, and stealing things from us... It was a flat out zoo!
GO BEACH!!!

That is the right way people should treat you, SDB: no respect!

It seems to me that anybody who attends sporting events such as womens v-ball and figures because he/she paid to get in; that gives them carte-blanche to be obnoxious and rude to the participants is missing the point. What about the fans whom attend these events who trully appreciate the artistry, the talent that these wonderful athletes have been given. Idont really care who wins or loses. I dont live my life through people I dont know.

Why don't you go do something constructive like change your mod name again?

I dont live my life through people I dont know. While I care who wins and losses, my ticket is not to see my favorite team win. It is to watch a volleyball game, and that product is provided. I enjoy it more when my team wins, but that does not give me the right to insist upon it as part of my ticket. I would enjoy it more if I could sit on the bench, too, but my ticket doesn't allow me to do that, either. You are correct. Just because you purchased a ticket does not give you carte blanche to do anything you want, including being obnoxious.

I'm sure your authoritative presence struck fear into their hearts. I don't really know or care what it did to them internally, but they knew better than to come sit by me anymore. Easiest way to get a wussy Gaucho heckler to shut the h ell up is to just tell them to shut up.

Why don't you go do something constructive like change your mod name again? I am getting a little confused as to who the moderator is on this board. At least Roger picked a moniker and stuck with it.

Why don't you go do something constructive like change your mod name again? You're really starting to remind me of Bucky Kat from the Get Fuzzy cartoon.
