Indiana is not a decent team....the chance of a Minnesota loss is 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 Indiana's conference record at home is 5-4 which includes wins over Michigan, Michigan State and Northwestern. The Gophers will not be able to sleepwalk their way through this one. I think the Gophers will come out and not take this match for granted to finish this one in three.

This is a big -- even historic -- match for the Gophers. Looking at seating charts, there are not a lot of seats left so it appears the Gophers likely will break the average attendance record set two seasons ago. Attendance was mediocre for the Diet Coke tournament and the first big10 match (NW). After that, though: whew. It exceeded 4000 in each of the last 9 home matches and exceeded 5000 in 4 of those 9. Is that a function of success? More media coverage than in the past? Averages aside, I'd bet Minn.'s median attendance this year was a lot higher than any previous year.

Last night's match was 'waay beyond compare'. The difference between the two coaches was striking. Carlston demonstrates high expressed emotion (EE). I do not see how you can bring out the best in your family of athletes under that kind of intensity. Hugh is like Mr. Good Daddy. Even when things are at their worst he seems to bring out the best in his players.
Hugh sat Wilhite down at 27-27 in the second set. Goehner finished out that game. I'd love to have heard what he said to Sarah as they sat together. Her stats after the 2nd: 7K 4E 17A .173. In the final three sets: 13K 2E 30A for .367. As stated earlier championships are not won by keeping the ball in play. You risk losing the point if you give the tempo to your opponents. Her previous highs in kills: 11 vs NE & IA, 12 vs NW & PSU.
Bringing in Maddy to build the block was another effort to improve frontline defense. 1 2 4 = gopher blocks by set. OSU started out VERY strongly. No hitting errors in set 1!! Just blocked once. Hugh also shifted Molly over to front Sandbothe later in the match. She got only 1 kill in the 4th set and none in the 5th. Even if the defensive shifts were a small a piece of solving the puzzle the idea of being more creative in defensive alignment seems like very positive coaching.
In set 2 the Gophers hit less than .100 and still took the set into overtime. Even though they were not on their game they were still competitive.
coming back from down 2 sets vs Purdue when their passing was very suspect and digging in last night against OSU; these are demonstrations of strength in adversity that should serve them well when the going gets tough in the tournament.
Praying they get seeded into Des Moines so I can head down I35 in 2 weeks. I don't profess any understanding of RPI and seeding but I guess it's good for Mn that USC got beat by UCLA. Is it true that the higher the seed the more likely that the team gets slotted into the closest regional?

Is it true that the higher the seed the more likely that the team gets slotted into the closest regional? I believe it's a given that USC goes to San Diego. And, of course, Texas to Austin. The real dilemma comes for the 4th seeded team, will it be Washington or Nebraska. I have a bad feeling that MN goes to Lexington given the lack of a strong eastern team. The best shot for MN going to Des Moines would have been if Penn State would get the 4th seed but I don't see that happening.

Hugh didn't sit Wilhite down, I don't think. He ran out of subs.
Also Sarah isn't opposite SSS. Not sure what that comment was about.

You said she was opposite SSS and then you edited it. Or I misread your post. I have no idea now.
I wasn't putting you down. I didn't understand what you were saying.
