I don't know how POY can go to anyone other than Carlini, but I guess that's just my definition of POY. My best guesses:
COY: McCutcheon POY: Carlini & Santana SOY: Carlini FOY: SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS DPOY: Wong-Orantes or A. Rolfzen
All-B1G: Carlini Nelson Santana H. Tapp SSS Tashima Whitney Drews Wong-Orantes K. Rolfzen A. Rolfzen Sandbothe Cole Birks
Honorable-Mention: Minarick Foecke Morey Courtney Washington Hunter Abbott Poulter Stadick Adelaja Cuttino Kriskova
All-Freshman: SSS Poulter Skodjt Foecke Williams Appold Hughes

I have no problem with Santana as POY But i would say SSS is more valueable to gopher team. Gophers win more games with SSS setting, Goehner and Wilhite hitting vs Schau Setting, Santana and Wilhite hitting. Wasn't this same gopher team .500 in big ten last year...and the really only change is SSS setting? Not sure I agree about winning more games option 1, than 2. The two biggest changes from 2014 to 2015 are SSS and Santana's health (and she's still not 100% imo). Even so, it's not between SSS and Santana. It's between Carlini and Santana. I can't see giving the POY to the 3rd place team's setter, no matter how good she is. Why? I really just don't get that. Was Santana the better player this season? Tough to measure given they dont play same position, but I don't think so. Did Santana have the greater impact on her teams success? Minnesota returned almost everyone and upgraded their question mark position. Carlini and UW had far more question marks and challenges. POY should go to best player of which Carlini is. I am a big Santana fan and think she is a first team AA, but I would argue SSS had a greater impact on Minnesota success as a player than Santana, and Carlini IMO is the best player in college volleyball.

I think it's gone to the right player in years past, conveniently because the best player in the conference was also on the best team, but I don't know what they'll do this year. I was very surprised last season when Carlini won POY and SOY over Hancock, simply because it would've been very easy to recognize the senior two-time First-Team All-American over the sophomore, so I think they've set a standard there. Who knows.

And I still think LC deserved POY. But I thought there was a serious argument to be made for Micha, and wouldn't have been surprised if she'd won or shared it..

It really isn't that important to me. But the biggest difference between Minnesota and Wisconsin (and 1st and 3rd) is Daly Santana.
Any one of the three would be a fine choice. But the fact there is a Setter of the Year award also makes a difference, to me (and an FoY, for that matter).

Does anyone know if Amber Rolfzen ended up leading the B1G in blocks?

No way Wisconsin finishes third with any other setter. Santana may be their best player, and the motor for Minny, but Carlini is to me a total deal changer. Santana would win based on her great play, but also her TEAMS finish, Carlini would win based on her play despite her teams finish. I'd have no problem with Santana winning, she and her team had a great year, I just think Carlini should win.

I agree with the following: Someone had asked: The player awards are chosen by the coaches. The coach of the year is chosen by the media. For COA: I believe there are 2 diff. polls selecting COA - Coaches Poll and The Media Poll

I don't see a universe in which Hugh does not get it this year.

Sheffield would be the only other coach I could see winning it, but I think Aird would deserve it almost as much as Sheff.

Tashima over SSS for all conference would be a travesty. Tashima's good, but no way the setter for 6-14 Northwestern makes it ahead of the setter for 18-2 Minnesota.
