I would still personally take SSS over Hunter, but I can see where one would prefer Hunter

Has Poy ever come from a team not the conference champion? Fwiw, I think it's Santana. 2013 - Nebraska finished 2nd at 16-4 and Kelsey Robinson was POY. PSU went 19-1 to win the title and landed 4 on the all conference team. Hancock was named setter of the year. Ariel Turner won B1G POY in 2011 when Purdue finished 13-7 in conference.

Country. But I agree. I think it's gone to the right player in years past, conveniently because the best player in the conference was also on the best team, but I don't know what they'll do this year. I was very surprised last season when Carlini won POY and SOY over Hancock, simply because it would've been very easy to recognize the senior two-time First-Team All-American over the sophomore, so I think they've set a standard there. Who knows. I disagree, I think they followed the standard which is to the victor go the spoils. This is why Santana would win over Carlini this year. Turner in 2011 and Robinson in 2013 were POY winners, and their teams did not win the B1G. Can't say it's a standard when they've deviated twice in the past four years.

Switch the setters and Minnesota wins the National Championship! I love Santana, but when she gets bounced by Texas A & M, Penn State or Hawaii, at least you'd have an offensivse/blocking setter.

Standard of course does not mean absolute, in this case it would mean customary.

Not looking at the Brackets...but I think they're all in the same bracket.

Just don't see Minnesota getting past Hawaii or Penn State. Minn handled PSU pretty easily last time they played em. Based on their play in last half of B1G, I feel PSU is overseeded. They looked out of their depth for two sets at Neb, and they didn't look much better in Minneapolis, not to mention home to Michigan. Never thought I would write that.

I think this is also one of the poorest coaching seasons Russ has had in recent memory, he still doesn't have a consistent lineup out there and the tournament is about to begin

The passing has simply not been good enough for PSU's level - and they have lost a ton in Micha. He has to fix that somehow and there are no easy solutions on the bench. What would you do?

Totally not a Minnesota Fan! Love Hugh and think he's coached at a high level. just not impressed with the actual team. I think they're average players that are getting a ton of accocolates. So 1+ for team chemistry. My predication is same as last year.

I think he was too quick to abandon his original lineup. He completely switched up the lineup after dropping 2 sets to Minnesota (while still winning the match anyways), and I think that really effected their chemistry/unity. I agree about the passing thkugh' thats all on the players. However, this PSU team lacks the teamwork and mental toughness which is typically seen in Penn State teams, which I think at least part of the blame falls on Russ's shoulders.

Just think they're too heavy Santana! Even though I think she's B!G POY (not sure it's tournament tested}.
