Before saying that which is necessary, I will say this: Many nice TX fans in the stands and in this city, and they are certainly the vast majority. However, they they don't abound on this board. I digress..."No way I'd ever take WI's MHs over TX's" "But Obagie is so athletic." And "Haleigh Nelson certainly overrated." And "Williams wasn't REALLY an all american." THAT is why you play, and coincidentally, it's why I severely dislike many Texas fans on this board. Inability to be objective and consider the possibility that anyone could be good other than those wearing burnt orange (white today). And finally, I will be a poor sport and say this. WI came to TX down one MAJOR component of their offense with a libero who has a partially torn ACL and beat TX. I want to hear the excuses, or maybe just the criticism. Either way, "yay, and I would take our MHs over yours any day.". I'm not sure most of those comments were coming from Texas fans... or at least that many of them. They weren't.

At least from what I recall and re-read in the thread. Either way, it's a shame the Texas fans drove you to a point where you felt the need to make the poor sports comment. Apologies to you.

Fitz simply won't get enough touches to be FOY, not with the number of OH's on tourney quality teams taking a bunch of swings. Depending on where USC finishes, she'd be lucky to get FOY over Lanier just in conference, let alone NFOY. And white will be able to rack up a decent hitting percentage and kill percentage in the weaker big 12 than Fitz will in the Pac, same goes for Scoles in the ACC. Can a RS Freshman get NFOY? I figured you could still get conference FOY but didn't know if that was allowed nationally. Awhh... Didn't one of your players win as a RS as a freshman, named Ebony.

Listen, people, I'm calling it like the way I see it: Carlini's setting, relative to her freshman year, has not been impressive this season. Wisconsin does not possess the types of middles that can make plays with less-than-perfect sets. Wisconsin is also without their best attacker. They took their libero and turned her back into an OH, while converting a DS into libero. Their other OH is a freshman, who is coming back from a slight injury. The team still has yet to figure out how to develop a right-side attack. For all these reasons, I don't expect this team to win against many teams, let alone Texas, whose lineup will do just fine without any Badger players. My apologies to TX fans, but have to call out this Husker fan who tried to hijack this thread early & often. "I award him zero points... And may god have mercy on his soul" Sounded like an epic match & congratulations to all the players for one hell of a showing!

Congrats to Wisconsin. They never gave up, and that really is the reason why they ended up winning the match.
I did not get to watch the match as it was being played as I was travelling. But, I did try to check this thread for updates. Have to admit it was pretty disappointing to not be able to ever see anyone post the score of the first set and when it ended; seemed like the same thing happened for the second. Had no idea for sure that Texas won either set and the scores.
Got home just in time to watch the end of the third set. Disappointing that Texas could not close it out. But, that was an example of Wisconsin never giving up.
Texas started strong in the fourth set; giving up that 4-1 lead was a huge turning point. I don't think Ebony recorded a kill in that set; very unusual. I realize Micaya was hot, but still need to get the ball more to Ebony.
Fifth set was probably the best played set (to some degree). Extremely disappointing to watch Texas implode like that at home; errors and bad decisions at critical times. Not exactly sure why we were setting Ebony on the left side so much late in this set.
Lots of posts in the thread from Wisconsin fans about being without Gillis, and other players having to play out of position. Obviously, that's part of the game. Don't think anyone mentioned this, but Texas freshman DS, Autumn Rounsaville did not play today. Apparently, some undiagnosed injury in practice. So, when I watched the first serve of the match (recording), and saw Lauren Beard (who might not have played at all this season yet, or at most, limited points) serving, I knew there must be a reason. While Texas' backrow play still needs a lot of work (even with Rounsaville in the lineup), having Beard in there could be part of the reason for so much miscommunication. Rounsaville may have played her best match of the season on Wednesday against A&M, so would have been nice for her to play today to see if she could build on that performance against a quality opponent.
As others have stated, both teams had plenty of issues serving and receiving serve. Setting was up and down all match for both. So, probably not the quality of match either team was hoping to display today. Lots of room for improvement all the way around.

A&M is terrible, so some context is required. They might not be top 5 or a NC contender but I'd have a hard time saying #16 is terrible Their ranking is just anchor bias based on last year's results. Right now they're a bad volleyball ball team. They could improve, but it remains to be seen.

Oooo I didn't realize Rounsaville was out. That definitely could've been a factor. Not saying our defense is anything spectacular with her but that definitely hurts.
SportyBucky, we don't have any excuses or criticism for you, just comments that we deserved to lose and that you beat us fair and square and came back to have a hell of a win at Greg. Props.

I'm not sure most of those comments were coming from Texas fans... or at least that many of them. They weren't. Cute. If this was the first instance of TX fandom being obnoxious in regard to their team, it'd be over when the game is over. However, it's years of defensiveness and downright bias when it comes to objectively evaluating TX VB. Any and all commentary on shortcomings, which are more evident now, were met rudely.
