I think it's fair to say this was a match of attrition fought by two teams with some injury issues that have caused some back row shuffling. That was a point Sheffield actually made before the match - both teams have injury issues they have to face.
I actually thought Texas floor defense was better than I remembered, except for a few inexcusable gaffs and miscommunications, and serve receive was OK for stretches. They didn't convert as much in system I thought they would, and converted more OOS than I thought the badgers should have allowed. Don't have numbers -- just an impression.

They won the sets that Beard played. Ah, didn't watch the match, just followed on Twitter. All in all, it's time to regroup and focus on conference play.

Cute. If this was the first instance of TX fandom being obnoxious in regard to their team, it'd be over when the game is over. However, it's years of defensiveness and downright bias when it comes to objectively evaluating TX VB. Any and all commentary on shortcomings, which are more evident now, were met rudely. Your issue is with a Nebraska fan's commment. It's well documented in the previous pages of this thread. You're well in your way of being as obnoxious as the things you claim you despise on here. I don't like to speculate or take things too seriously or personally on here because it's an online forum that's for the most part anonymous, but I think it's laughable that you're criticizing and lamenting over obnoxious fans when there's a strong argument that your actions aren't too dissimilar from the very thing you're getting worked up over.

Regardless. I hope both teams make it to the final four. Along with two other big 10 teams just because I'm a homer like that.

If it wasn't made personal over the past four years, it wouldn't have gotten personal. As such, I've taken it to a personal message where it belongs.

Is this going to be a yearly thing because I would love to see these teams play every year. Especially since next year both teams will have Freshman setters and young teams!

Texas comes to Madison in two year's time apparently. Don't think anything has been set up after that. Not sure what set the two year wait. UW will have a large influx of freshman, including one at setter, next year. Maybe that played a role? I agree, it's an interesting matchup. Different styles entirely. Always interesting to see how that plays out.

I like the match up. I've always liked Wisconsin's program (Sheffield era) and like the competition. This and our game against Nebraska should be a yearly thing.

In terms of senior ace rankings, Wisconsin could have one of its best lineups ever: S-Hilley, #3 OH-Gillis, #7 OH-Haggerty, #5 MB-Williams, #6 MB-Hart, #17 RS-Rettke, #8 L-Dodge, #57 L-Bates, #50something? With Duello (#9) and Loberg (#19) coming off the bench. Not quite Texas-esque, who will likely have at least 2 former top 5 recruits riding the pine next year, but quite a stacked lineup nonetheless. Major props to Sheff and co on doing a heck of a job recruiting players to come to UW.

Also, who's the back up setter?

Also, who's the back up setter? As others stated, Bates is a junior this year. We lose Kriskova, Carlini, Nelson and Blake to graduation. Mix and match prospective depth chart for 2017: At OH. Gillis, Haggerty, Bates, Loberg, Whalen At RS. Haggerty, Rettke (probably, it's a guess) At MB: Williams, Hart, Rettke, Saunders (from what we hear). Backup setters to Hilley: Robbins, Dixon
