It's already over, court found in favor of Meyer and ordered U of Iowa to pay her $1.43 million. This situation was dropped here out of the blue on this thread. Somebody is trying to stir things up here on the ESTEEMED Volleytalk. Iowa has already moved on, Volleytalk did not realize this. Yeah whatchu trying to do here @therealdeal? You tryna start something?

hawkfan to continue the conversation from the "Predict the Lineup" thread (so as not to bog it down with too much focus on a singular squad)... Certainly Buzzerio & Reuter will both get their chances to prove they belong in the lineup. I thought last season Buzzerio was bogged down more by errors than a real lack of terminating ability. She had a great deal of responsibility put on her, and while I think she held up fairly well her attack game suffered a bit. It appeared to me she felt pressured to terminate at the wrong time and swung a little wild. I actually think adding Louise increases Buzzerio's chances of staying in the lineup six rotations. She'll have significantly less pressure to terminate and should steady out receive nicely. And at the very least Reuter proved to be a solid first one off the bench option last season. Including this season, we have three seasons with Buzzerio. I think we develop her into a solid OH2 these next two seasons opposite Louise and then perhaps Hansen replaces Louise as OH1 in 2019.

Interesting thoughts. Agree about observations of Buzzerio from last season and yes, there was a lot of responsibilty on her. Thought she did great, given all of that! I just have seen enough of vids of Louis (and it is "Louis" and not "Louise"...just friendly FYI ) that show her effectiveness in all positions on the court to believe she will be 6 rotations for us (or at least strongly considered for that). Check out the highlight vid below from a Marquette match last year. The very first highlight is a back row kill by Louis that illustrates what I mean! Dang! Some other monster kills of hers in the clip, too. We are so fortunate to have Buzzerio for three more years, yes! I also see Hansen being in the mix in 2019 right away. But I really think Sheehan will be a key on-court factor sooner than later as well. She's the real deal, too. All quite exciting!

Taylor Louis will undoubtedly have a learning curb to being as consistent of a terminator in the B1G. We're lucky to have gotten her as a RS JR, giving her time to develop into her senior campaign much like Keala, who flourished after a year of adjustment. I'm very interested in seeing Sheehan on the court. I feel like we're more likely to see Sheehan win out a starting role over Buzzerio than Reuter. Both Buzz & Sheehan are true six rotation outsides, I think it's easier to feel more inclined to give those players more opportunities. I remember Sheehan made the Frosh 59 but don't know about after that, Cook displayed some interest in her, and Minnesota fans were eager about the idea of Hugh possibly recruiting her early on. That Shymansky-Northern Lights connection may prove to be very, very important for the Hawkeyes! We're always in for surprises. Last season I think we were all expecting to see a lot more of Reuter and Alm on the court but it looked like Buzzerio and Coyle won their spots on the court in practice, and delivered fairly well in the B1G! We'll have Louis/Buzzerio/Coyle/Reuter/Alm/Sheehan (along with others) competing for three spots at the pins. I see a lot of great potential in that group!

I didn't write the article or make the allegations. I asked a question. Thanks for asking the qustion but it is already a done deal. It is a settled question and not a open issue. I am sure that the Iowa coach is quite aware that he now has more eyesa on him.

How is it settled? I wasn't asking about Jane. I was asking about Bond. What is going on with his program?

Team performing better, coaching staff developing nicely, recruiting stepping up significantly. Previously, allegations of bullying by Bond from parents were investigated and settled without discipline in 2015. There haven't been any such public talks since.

A freshman goes out drinking and gets a ticket. Coach enforces team rules. Parents of DD whine. Doesn't appear like a problem with coaching to me.

Not that it is the end-all-be-all measuring stick but Sheehan was the #54 Prep Volleyball 2017 Senior Ace. She is a high-quality, 6 rotation OH. And yes, the Northern Lights Connection is already proving to be important for the Hawks: Sheehan, Orr and Johnston this fall and in addition to Hansen in 2019, don't forget about Rients in that same class. PVB Soph 79 as an OH, even though a "middle by trade." Future looks mighty "Northern Lights bright" in IC!

2017 recruiting class on 30-21 list by Prep Volleyball! Highest ranking ever and nice write-up about the new recruits as well as mention of the two stellar transfers of O'Neill and Louis.
On another note, noticed in the 2017 schedules thread that Coastal Carolina plays the Hawks twice at tourney in Iowa City on weekend of Sept 1-2. Should be good from RPI standpoint, given CC's success last year. Looks like Indiana State also part of that weekend. Haven't seen anything else about Iowa's schedule. Will be interested to see how Bond schedules pre-conference this year.

I do find it funny when other squads are squabbling about whether previous classes of theirs should've been the #1 class and I'm just sitting over here thrilled with our Top 30 class! I don't have the time to want to piece together our schedule from other teams' schedules, but I am getting a little antsy about when our schedule will get released. I keep checking the website at least once a day!

Previously, allegations of bullying by Bond from parents were investigated and settled without discipline in 2015. There haven't been any such public talks since. Some quality reporting there as well. "Several parents" and later as you read you find out 2. Daughter was forced to sign a performance contract, and parents also complained he did not "try to get to know them". Wow, the absolute nerve of a head coach not butt kissing the parents of a DS. He took over a dumpster fire, and had to put it out. One of the best coach quotes I have heard of in turning programs around, "before you get the right players on the bus, you have to get the wrong ones off..." They looked into, nothing happened, and everyone moved along. As far as the Meyer/Greisbaum thing, that was another entire debacle of Barta's faut.
