I have a feeling Plummer might opt for the beach instead of indoors once she graduates from Stanford. it would be pretty cool if she is able to participate on the national team both indoor and on the beach. However, in this day and age, she may be better off going exclusively beach or exclusively indoor I think spending too much time on the beach workers against her indoors re offensive shot selection. Most of the time for an OPP, you want someone with an explosive first step and can hit high, hard, preferable over the block...also reading hitters and the set/location of the ball are worlds different. You remember how ineffective Alexa Strange was the first couple matches trying to go indoor? looked like a deer in headlights. While I'm sure some practice and conditioning will iron everything out, I think when you get to the very top levels, every advantage can help and every disadvantage can hurt...what's the real advantage of Plummer's indoor game from her playing beach?

Not sure why everyone is so high on Ogbogu. She's going to need a lot of work before she can contribute to the NT. Disagree. She's the only one on that list who can hit both in front of and behind the setter AND serve, and she's very good at closing the block.

Casting and keeping a wide net is imperative for the next 3 years. Even getting some of these college kids in more for training if their schools allow.
We most certainly will need a heavy dose of veterans for 2020 if they hang around.
One of my biggest take aways from this summer's Olympics was maturity and efficient movement front and back row.
Some of the girls mentioned so far I have concerns with once you enter the speed element of international ball.
Gotta get more of our potential top players placed in the right Pro Leagues and right Pro coaches.
I know that Speraw and his staff are very cognizant of this factor as much as possible. I'm hopin that as Karch seems to be our guy for a while his staff is really working on this area too.

I'm surprised by how little love Dixon is getting. she's our best MB behind the setter and arguably the best all-around MB we have. And didn't she win best blocker at the '15 WC and Olympic qualifiers...at 23. She may not always jump over the block, but she is smart and sees the court so well. (but most importantly, Karch really likes her game.) I loved watching her and Foluke together at Rabita Foluke, Dixon, Inky, Adams and even Rhamat are above Obgogu...but there's time for that all to change.

I can't really effectively comment on Ogbogu. She's never really played with a real setter, so..

I would certainly think back at 100% she would be in the teams top 2 or 3 MB.

Playing beach helps her get touches and stay active. She's a very talented beach player so she probably doesn't want to go indoors-only or beach-only until after college. she's not playing beach because she wants to improve her indoor game, she's playing beach because she's a darn good beach player. I agree that there are differences in skill and play with beach and indoor, and that she should probably commit to one or the other. However, at this point she's probably still figuring out which one to pursue or perhaps if she should try and pursue both

I think Plummer could have a monster indoor career. Look how good she was by the first year of playing outside in her career. Girl has al the tools to be a star.

I think pros would have an easy time picking up her spikes. She needs a lot more power on her shots to be considered for an elite indoor National Team. Her all-around game is better suited for the beach, imo.

We are too short up front especially on the outside and in middle. Hill is tall enough but she does not hit very hard. Lowe is tall enough but she can't seem to figure out that hitting the ball while closing her eyes/brain won't work. I don't follow college ball to know if we have good/tall players but Karch has to get them in the gym. I wish they can recruit some hoop players. Height is not everything but it helps to be 6'4 or taller like Zhu Ting, Kim, Gamona, Hooker etc..Hooker played much bigger because of her leaping ability.

Plummer could clearly be an international opposite... the question is whether she has the footwork to hit "USA fast" in transition or if they'd adjust the system. She'll also have to compete with a Lowe who will be in her peak by then and some outsides who haven't been moved right yet. 2020 is probably too soon regardless for her.
Everyone assumes Foluke will still be our top middle 3 years from now. I'm not so sure. She'll be like 33 in Tokyo and she's already not the blocker she was. Losing a little bit of physicality would really hurt her effectiveness on offense too. I seem to recall a lot of minor/nagging injuries limiting her for Team USA in the past quad, and those don't lessen on the other side of 30.

The thing about tall outsides is that they usually can't pass well enough. Zhu Ting and Kim are two very special players, and the USA doesn't seem to have an L1 hammer who can pass
