I thought they were 4 year agreements and AVP is technically rivals with NVL. You said she "HAS" to play AVP, I was just stating that isn't technically right. She could chose not to play either, like Kerri. SHe can skip. She will just be fined for breaking the contract. I wonder how did she get away with not playing in the other AVP events when there wasn't an international event that weekend.

So Noone knows if the recourse from the broken contract is a fine, or can't play for remainder of year, or can't play for remainder of the 4 year ontract?

Also, considering that players are playing pottstown an seaside, it's safe to say the only thing they can't play is the nvl if there even is an nvl.

Statement from Kerri: She will be having surgery on her shoulder end of August. Surgery on her ankle in September. Fully expects to be on the FIVB tour with Nicole next summer. Nicole says the same!! She ain't done winning yet!!! In that case, that's surgery number 4 for Kerri on that same shoulder?? But Nicole still has to play on AVP since she's signed the agreement. No....That's shoulder surgery #6 on the shoulder! She is just Badass!!!

Thats not how contracts work, particularly in pro sports. In general the only recourse for breaking a contract is money, its almost impossible to force performance (13th amendment) and in athletic contracts really all an athlete needs anyway is to say "I have a sprained ankle"

If a player has made an AVP Main Draw and has signed the 4 year Agreement, they need permission to play any other event that is outside of AVP. If they do decide to play an event without AVP consent, the punishment is at the discretion of Donald. If he likes you, maybe you only get a financial fine and if he doesn't like you, then you can be banned from the tour for as long as he sees fit... could be the remainder of the contract or forever for that matter.

The only fines possible are: a) Those specifically stated in the contract or b) Ones imposed by Donald and voluntarily paid in order to play on the AVP again.

Rosie has been playing some of the best ball of his career this year. He's back to his old physical self but with an added layer of craftiness. I think he's easily win with a handful of other blockers like SS, Theo, and Phil obviously.

Unfortunately he may not get that chance because with the next Olympic cycle coming up people are going to start looking to pair up for 2020.

Phil/Nick they should lose to, but they had two very winnable finals and a semi where they got blown out by SS/BA. I think the fact that post-Phil Sean has played with pretty much every possible blocker except Ryan and had limited success may weigh against him. A lot of that is due to injuries, but it may be hard for blockers with points like Brunner or Doherty to take a chance on Sean now

I could easily see both of those teams done heading into 2018. Add in the possibility of Hyden retiring, Sean is probably the top Def. player available IF he wants to play FIVBs. who would you take: Sean vs. Casey?? Casey vs. Taylor Taylor vs. Sean Sean probably sides out the best, followed by the other 2. Taylor, then Sean,...then Casey on Def. All set very well.

That team has drastically overperformed this year. Lots of factors in John maybe retiring, but he is still playing at a level that argues he should keep on. As to the who would you take, Taylor is the worst of the three based on this year, but I would take him over the other two in a second. Any advantages Sean has are nullified by the fact that he is a smallish, injury-prone 37 year old who depends on his athleticism. Casey needs his athleticism less, but is more clearly in the declining stage of his career. Conversely, Taylor is someone you would expect to keep improving and not a little. He and Jake stunk it up on the FIVB this year, but he has 11 career FIVBs. I also think that defenders probably take a little longer to adapt, especially smallish one who are suddenly facing a much higher level of blocker than they are used to.
