I'm still not sold on Reid. I think Ryan's needs someone like little crabb or Rosie over Reid!! I think if he choices Reid there's some money involved π
Ryan has a serious shot at making 2020 with the right partner and I don't think it's Reid. I'm ok if it is jidt don't see it though

I think there must be some financial consideration here for Ryan to make a commitment this early and presumably not knowing what Taylor, Casey, and a few others may do

An interesting question facing April if she does want to take a year off. (And I have no idea if she does or if those rumors are unfounded) Say Hughes or Claes asked her to play right now, could she afford to take the year off and let that team develop together? If Sara had to make a choice in 2019 to switch to split blocking and go with April over Kelly, isn't that a massively harder choice than if she has to make it now?
On the women's side (Assuming April and Kerri both play but are still unwilling to play together) I'd like to see
Ross/Ross Fendrick/Stockman Day/Flint Klineman/Sweat Kerri/Nicole
I think it probably ends up with Fendi/Sweat back together

On hands alone, Ryan is the stronger partner vs Theo, still shocked how far Ryan's come as a player.

Those types of issues don't usually resolve themselves. Especially with women. So can't see those two playing together again, In other Kerri News...She recently had surgery on foot/ankle and in the next couple of weeks, back in for shoulder repairs. 6-8 months recovery....Seems as though she will miss start of FIVB.

By 2019 when it's really time to settle on Olympic partners, Ryan may well be the top American blocker, depending on whether Phil still cares, and he'll have his choice of the best defender, whoever it may be.

I agree Ryan is no. 2 right now, but hopefully we can do better soon. For his size, Ryan is an awful blocker - I think most international level players would rather hit against Ryan than Theo - and when teams get to play him a few times his offense becomes much less effective also (one reason it works well initially is his angles are just different because of his height and kind of half swing) Very interested to see how he and Reid do. I'd guess one or two fifths, and thats about it.

Her last two shoulder injuries really didn't look like much in the way of trauma and another seems almost certain if she comes back again

I'm rooting for her! She's Kerri and she realizes that if she can't play up to her expectations, then she will most likely walk away.!

I have never heard of Hydan being done playing international the guy has to make a living... Since they just won the last AVP I'm sure they're gonna keep each other in mind for next year and Jake/Zuan? If anything zuan/tri would be the partnership since Jake and Taylor have had a successful year.

That's rather sad... thought it was just AVP contract differences. This year, the best place for an American team on the international circuit was a 2nd place (not counting Betsi Flint and Kelley Larsen in the 2 star events). The split of Kerri and April was the end of a really strong American team that other international teams would fear. Was their friendship on social media just a lie??

The split of Kerri and April was the end of a really strong American team that other international teams would fear. Was their friendship on social media just a lie?? I always believed it was more an Just AVP contract differences. April & Kerri are just two completely different beasts with two very different personalities. People talk about how different Misty & Kerri were. I wasnt always roses & sunshine for Kerri & Misty either. They were extremely close to parting ways in 2006. I think the KWJ/April partnership was a strange one from the beginning. I think they were friends and developed a real like for each other but I think they just stopped having fun and it snowballed from there. I remember watching an interview with April. I don't remember her exact words, but she referred to the run to RIO as intense and very pressure filled. Not sure what she expected. This is all Kerri knew 12+ years...Going to the Olympics & winning Gold!!! For them to actually pull it together in that Bronze medal match & come away with that medal for us has to rank as one of THE best highlights of both their careers. Many will say that April won in this situation with KWs injury. Let's remember that Kerri wouldn't have been in those qualifiers if she had been with April. There was no winner here. A big loss for the πΊπΈ not having our best team together. People say that Kerri was certain that she would land Hughes that she walked away from April & left April high & dry. According to many sources that is not at all the case. These two women just were smart enough to walk away from each other before it actually affected them on court. There will be more πΊπΈ women's FIVB wins in 2018. Right off the bat, you are taking the best team in the world out of the equation with Larissa & Talita taking the year off. However, If Laura & Kira can stay healthy, which is a big IF that team may have lots more Gold Medals in them. Not to mention the loaded Brazilian squad & Germany π©πͺ team.

I feel unless someone is really persuasive, Sara and Kelly aren't going to split up next season, especially after winning Chicago (remind me who's the better one again? Tri mentioned Sara was carrying the match before and Kelly was carrying the match sometimes during the season. But really, they both played on fire the past weekend.)
I also think Lauren and April will split up next season if one or both don't take the year off. They've had some chemistry, but it started to wear off.
There's only two spots for US teams, who will make it...

I saw past videos of April and Jen Kessy and they looked to be great friends off the court. Even after their partnership ended, they still looked as if they are good friends now.
Maybe April Ross and Em Day in the future?
