There`s no thread for the Brazilian League, I guess I will post this here. Every League across the world is underway and so is the Brazilian League. Athletes are supposed to arrive a few days/weeks or month early prior the season starts, and this is not news to anyone. But Minas Tennis Clube is still waiting for their OPP to show up, Hooker is claiming her passport expired, and claiming she did apply for a new one for due the Hurricanes it is getting delayed. And without a passport she can`t get her visa. But this issue has been going on for a while, and just now the Club had to say something because the fans were asking what was going on. How come would she not know her passport expiration date? I guess she`s a very care less person. And by doing this she`s not showing her club any kind of respect. This is not something a pro athlete would do. And she`s making a lot of money for the season, I heard she`s making U$$250K, almost 1 million in Brazil money "REAL". And still she thinks she can only show up a month later. The team already played the State Championship and the Brazil Cup without her, and the Superliga just started this week, and she`s still not there. But I think it could be more than just that, I think she`s just being a DIVA and thinking she can do whatever she wants, like she will show up only when she feels like and the club gotta wait on her. Brazilian fans truly loves her and I think the club is keeping it cool just not to disappoint the fans and it would look ugly for her. Nicole Fawcett is playing in Brazil as well, she arrived there over 1 month ago. (she got a minor injury during some friendly game and has not been able to play yet.) Every american that signed a contract overseas this summer is already playing for their club, and nobody had problems with passport or visa. Is Rio de Janeiro Vôlei Clube going to win the championship again this season? They are no longer called Rexona right? I think they changed their sponsor this season.

Where is Zeng Chunlei heading? I heard it was an Italian team? Pomi Casalmaggiore. Thanks for the answer. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Some Zeng fans are already posting highlight reels from her first few games at Pomi:

Last week Monza ( Hancock, Dixon) lost, Hancock did not play but they played against a stronger team Firenze. Today they won but against a weaker team Legnano ( Drews, Newcombe).
Monza with the backup setter Balboni last week.
MB - Dixon 11/16 69% Devetag 5/10 50% Candi 2/3 67&
Balboni spike attempts 0
This week with Hancock
Dixon 6/18 33% Candi 1/6 17& Devetag 4/7 57%
Hancock spike attempts 12. This is too much for a setter, if she wants to spike she should change roles. I`m surprised her coach is allowing her to do that, but I would guess for these mediocre teams, their goal is to just score no matter what, instead of trying to create a team that can play good volleyball and actually win something.
She did not use the jump serve, just a normal float, I`m not sure if that is because of her injury or if the coach made her change as we learned this summer her serve only works against the teams in the Norceca.

They are no longer called Rexona, they are called SESC/RJ (Roberta,Monique,Drussyla,Jucyeli,Gabi Guimaraes, Gabi) - They are still favorite to win, they just beat Minas in the Brazil Cup in 3-2. It was a close game. But this season they will no longer have any international player as in the past few years the ones they hired did not perform well ( Anne Bujis, Courtney Thompson, Logan Tom). They will just save their money. But their OH Gabi is injured and the other Gabi ( the libero from the NT) just got injured and her season is over. And Carol (MB) is playing in Turkey this season. Other 3 teams are at the same level, Minas ( Hooker, Rosamaria,Macris, Mara, Carol Gataz, Leia), Osasco (Tandara,Bia,Fabiola,Ninkovic), Praia Clube ( Fawcett, Fe Garay,Fabiana, Waleuska,Amanda,Suelle) and Barueri ( Naiane,Erika Coimbra,Edinara,Jaqueline,Thaisa,Skowronska) Bueri was just promoted to the Superliga, and they are playing really well, they lost for SESC and Osasco by in 3-2 only, and they are playing without Naine/Thaiza both injured (Thaiza will start playing in December), Jaque just joined and Skoworska will arrive this week as she was injured as well. edit: there`s another strong team BAURU ( Paula Pequeno, Juma,Arlene Xavier,Yoana Palacio, Shara Venegas) also Fluminense is decent ( Michelle, Renata Colombo, Sasa, are all former NT members). The Superliga is really strong this season ( more than ever) Minas which is a favorite, they won the state championship by beating Praia Clube, and only lost the Brazil Cup in 3-2 for SESC/RJ, but they already lost 2 games in the Superliga for 2 teams which are not among the favorites (Pinheiros and Sao Caetano) Osasco almost lost for Valinhos, and Valinhos just joined the Superliga 2 week ago because one of the teams lost a sponsor and would not be able to compete, and Valinhos replaced them.

tangotango, did you watch the match between Manza and Legnano? I did. Or are you just reading off the stat sheet? Because you are basing your comments off the stat sheet and not the match itself. You have never liked Hancock and now in your post you are trying to misinform readers by implying that Hancock is not a good setter and that she is not setting her team well, and they only won because they were playing a lesser team. You failed to mention how Ortolani had 28 points, 23 kills at 45% And if you only want to look at stats, go to lega volley and look at stats for the league. And since you are a Carlini fan, Hancock is right behind her as a setter. Carlini with 2 games and Hancock with 1. Yes she scored 7 out of 12 points on her kills, I guess that is too many points to have. Carlini has 3 out of 6.
Try to appreciate the game of volleyball and the players. And not have a slant view and only want to point out the negative of one player to justify your comments for another.

I did watch the game LIVE...and if you go back and read my previous post, I was posting in real time during the game. So my comments is based on watching the game and not only stats. Did I compare her to Carlini? NO....and if you read another post that I posted on Saturday, I even wrote that I did not like Carlini`s game, because her sets to the middle were not good and she was only setting the OPP and OH. Ortolani had a great game, but she was the only one getting good sets. Maybe you can go on youtube and look for a replay and post here so everyone can watch. A setter must attack when she has no other choice if the pass was bad and too close to the net, but a great setter will always try her best to create a set no matter what, but Hancock is very limited, she can`t create a good set and she goes for the kill instead. And sometimes her spikes does not even comes from a bad pass, she just wants to spike to update her "stats sheet" . And it is no secret to anyone Legnano is one of the weakest team in the League, they just got promoted to Seria A. And even Firenze ( the team they played last week) is not among the favorites, last season they only finished 8th.

Well I'm glad you watched. But you can't just give stats to prove your point and not give all the stats only the bad ones. That is why you have to watch the match to see how the passing is, why a player keeps hitting it out of bounds, and how well the other team is playing on the other side of the net. A setter can only set when the passing is good. Same goes for a hitter, if a player gets a bad set, you have to create a play. Obviously her coach has confidence in her to dump it over. And it works for her well, at least 58% Unfortunately I wouldn't attempt to post a YouTube video or sections of one because I have no clue on how to do it. Maybe posters can watch it themselves. It doesn't matter if a team is low in the standing, the other team still has to play to beat them. Just like we have seen in college games when a team low in the ranking pulls off a major upset. And we all shake our heads in disbelief. Yes I have read your posts about Carlini as well.
If you think of how many good players are out there in all the leagues, to make a team is an accomplishment even if it's a lower rank team or a higher rank team. We need to give credit to all these women. It's sad when we have to see good players sit on the sidelines or not given a chance to play. This happens to a lot of good players, especially USA players which hurts us later down the road when we put together a team.

And of course this is the Italian board but I did just see the news that Minas coach and DH are trying to lure Logan Tom from New Zealand to come play for them this season. Seems they like that piece to carry them to the top. We’ll see if anything happens. May be doubtful but intriguing nonetheless.

The western expansion really happened? ;-D Yes... 2:30/1:30/12:30/11:20 EDT/CDT/MDT/PDT As for Adeniza and celebrations, I was laughing at the one where she jumped into Carlini's arms after a point. Maybe she was just giving Carlini a workout, but it seemed a bit over the top, yet oddly appealing in its idiosyncrasy. Carlini was clearly amused.

But that is how they play and celebrate every time for every point. There`s nothing (artificial/contrived/scripted/coached), Some fans from other countries are not big fans of that kind of celebration as they think it is too much, but that`s who they are, and they take that extra energy anywhere they go.
