It's basically a tactic to get Hawaiian tel customers to switch over..... All while saying how community minded they are. Fine, Spectrum. So TWC end-ran KFVE and got the multiyear contract, which you inherited when you bought out TWC. Yes, your multi-camera product is good. Sell us a PPV package via Hawaiian Tel or a streaming product. Or do the decent thing, which Oceanic/TWC did, and negotiate a fee with Hawaiian Tel for WVB. As an employee of Hawaiian Telcom working in Customer relations/Sales, I can safely say it's not happening anytime soon. I recently parted ways about a month ago but speaking to supervisors and marketing throughout the last of couple of years, they basically informed us there is no timetable. Explaining the whole situation to customers is a pain and of course being an actual fan also dampers things.... it just sucks.

Know you guys were blindsided, and then got hammered by frustrated customers. Hope the contract is up soon and David McClain and UH Athletics think about how this version of the contract is affecting fans and how it may affect ticket buyers in the future. Neighbor Islands get shafted worse than us during the regular season.

I can clearly remember the last time the contract ended and the previous AD, Ben Jay (?) basically gave it to TWC to renew without even looking at other options. Rick Blangieri at KGMB was pissed!

Oh yeah, the Ben Jay era. Blangiardi wasn’t the only one who was pissed. Hopefully Matlin has a better grasp of the impact on fans when this current contract expires. Anyone know when that is?

The Wahine-Baylor match will be streamed live. Go to the BigWestTV site for link. In Hawaii, only Spectrum subscribers will be able to see the live stream. Following the link to the match already gives the following message: Due to broadcast restrictions, you fall into the blackout market for this stream. The live stream is not available in Hawaii. Spectrum customers can view this event at myspectrumsports.com Having dealt with the streaming when we used to have TWC, it’s a good idea to check today to make sure your login goes smoothly. Direct link for stream is bigwest.sidearmstreaming.com/watch/?Live=1627

I’ve realized Hawai’i had played against a P5 team on the first round in the last 4 years at least. 2015: TCU 2016: USC 2017: Illinois 2018: Baylor If only they played UCF this year.

NCAA conspiracy to try and get rid of Hawaii quickly so they don’t have to pay for their expensive plane ride. Hawaii should be playing somebody like Savannah State or California Institute of Culinary Art. There should be an investigation by Robert Mueller into this fiasco!!!! ;-)

Considering MOST of the at larges come from p5, and hawaii will NEVER play an auto qualifier unless they host or a seeded team, it makes sense.

There’s also a lack of bad auto qualifiers from the West as well.
The problem is really we’re in a strong volleyball region.
