It's not up to me but I really don't want to see a 6-2. Iosia should set exclusively. If Hawaii gets another top notch setter WHO CAN ACTUALLY SET THE MIDDLE, then that setter should play and Iosia should hit exclusively. But will she be able to beat out the allegedly amazing Braelyn Akana at OPP? If Choy is indeed transferring, it'll be a very interesting competition between Iosia and Choy. But please oh please I really don't want to see another 6-2. It really messes up the timing with the hitters.

Someone needs to tell her that Adora’s not there anymore so move the ball around.

The best one is Riley Wagoner. What makes you say that? I'm assuming your from Ohio because of your username. Would love to hear your thoughts on her!

Love this thread already!
Looking at 2019, we have solid pins. It may be only our defense that may be dragging us down next year. 2020 should be an amazing year now that Lang and Via have committed. Two awesome players at their respective positions!

Choy would be a great addition, but a senior transfer setter still means Hawaii needs another one for the year after which puts possibly puts two freshman head to head (Lang and whoever else comes in). I dont think a freshman wants to play behind Lang for four years so it might be best to look for another upperclassman transfer.

All we guaranteed need next year is a setter and libero, and I guess an outside. I'd go upperclassmen transfer for these tho in order to space out the recruiting classes. 2019 could all be starters and rotation players. The 2020 class might have a hard time getting on to the floor.

Choy would be a game changer because it would allow Iosia to hit in the front row. I like her hitting, she is a gamer. Grace wouldn’t be a bad pickup either lol. It is a very hot rumor about Choy transferring and with good reason, word is she is not very happy there and honestly they don’t appreciate her. She used to play for Robyn at the club level. Hopefully she comes back home. How the heck does proboards whoever poster know inside information!? Ugh.

If Choy does transfer back home, any chance she may play Libero? Have not seen her play that much.

If Choy does transfer back home, any chance she may play Libero? Have not seen her play that much. She spent three seasons at Utah and her whole prep/club career at setter. There's no way she's coming here to play libero if she does decide to transfer. Choy is good in the back row. But not much of a presence at the net, which would make sense to continue with the 6-2 BTW, Westerberg needs to be looked at as an opposite. She's the real deal with a cannon of an arm.

If that is the case, then I could see Robyn running the same kind of 6-2 she is running this year. As for Westerberg, it is good that Robyn has 2 players that can either play Middle, or OPP, with Akana, and her.

She's never played on the outside in high school or club. Westerberg has the tools to be a terminating opposite. I guess it just depends on the progress of the other hitters.

I can agree Westeberg could be an OPP to match up with that UCI OH freshman.

a video of kamehameha and b. akana at the durango classic. the clips of her hitting show how explosive of a player she is. her slide is probably the weakest offensive weapon she has so i’m curious to see where she’ll fit in next year - middle, outside or opposite? in this video they’re playing against mercy high school and their opposite phenom jess mzurik who is probably one of the best in the 2020 class. akana stuffed her straight down at one point. They're so far away. Can't see much. What am I supposed to be looking at? Which time markers? 5:33 kill 11:55 attempt 13:03 block 14:54 kill 15:21 block 16:44 attempt 16:46 kill 17:48 kill 26:24 attempt 26:30 kill 28:05 kill 34:31 block 38:41 kill 39:29 kill 1 very questionable error. one attempt they said she hit the net when she swung but it appears as though it was the ball that hit the net. you be the judge. cant believe i did that hah.

What if, just if, Robyn burned Castaneda’s redshift right after learning of the commitments of that Sweden OH and CANADIAN MB/OPP? She probably realized that Castaneda would have bench on her senior season if she redshirted. Thats how confident Robyn is with her recruits.
