Yeah, unless the Akanas are swimming in money (and I have no idea if they do or not), the cost of a USC education could bankrupt you, even if it’s only for two years.

I do not see Keonilei Akana staying at USC for more then 2 years. Reason being, I do not believe the USC coaching staff will last for 2 more years. The USC coaching staff goes, so will Keonilei Akana.

Going away and then coming back is always risk. Somebody like Georgia Via could come in and get herself in position for a scholarship and not leaving any for another libero. Robyn must have seen something in Georgia Via to offer her a chance to walk on.
Not expecting her to do much her freshman year but could help in two to three years
Does have a couple of eye popping stats from HS. Not sure it’s a typo or somebody fudging numbers but over 500 BHA with 0 errors. Also average 5 digs per set. I doubt these numbers are accurate but it’s good to look at...haha.

Does anyone know where Kanani Danielson hanai sister is going to play? She original committed to Temple, but decommitted, have not heard anything after that. Do not believe she signed a NLI to any D1 school.

Look how Amber Igiede turned out. Not many people thought much of Amber coming in. Lot of people thought she would be a project. I am starting to believe, Robyn does not recruit project players, but players who can contribute sooner, then later.

Anyone know anything about the junior OH on Waianae, Heipua Tautua'a? Recruiting wise? Watching the Aiea game, she seems very explosive. I know Waianae doesn't get much exposure but she looks like a heavy hitter and I saw she plays for Kevin's team ? (SAS). she committed to Saint Mary’s College. I’ve seen some videos on her only but she seemed like a good hitter, I wonder if Hawaii was even in her radar. Santa Clara University is getting a lot of homegrown talent heading there way now as well because of Erin Not to be mean but that girl from Waianae is a one trick pony with a very bad attitude. She is also not all around and lacks ball control. While she has power, she does not have consistency nor does she have accuracy.

I don’t think Rika Okino was highly regarded out of high school. Just 2nd team all-State in her senior year out of Kalani in a league that isn’t highly regarded in vb (I don’t think?). I think Shoji took her because she was willing to walk-on and then later, she was able to finance her own education with academic scholarships. Didn’t play in her first two years but did well in her final two years. She even beat out Kyra Hanawahine who had a better resume (1st team All-State her final two years at Kamehameha, in the toughest league in the state, ended up at Oregon of the PAC12).
Just mentioning this as predicting how DS/liberos will do in college has to be one of the toughest things.

All-state includes all the various leagues in the state including ILH, OIA, BIIF, MIL, and KIF. Had Okino been selected 2nd team all-OIA, then that wouldn’t have been as prestigious as 2nd team all-state.

Ross and Okino elevates their game greatly in the final quarter of the season from UCSB/Cal Poly at home and on.

Hope Robyn and staff are tracking Nive Tuileta, of Le Jardin, an all-state first teamer. She will be senior next year. This girl has volleyball in her genes. Her brother Larry Tuileta played on the Men's Volleyball team. We all know how good he was. Robyn also needs to hold on to one, or two, scholarships come 2022 for the likes of Devin Kahahawai and Maui Robins. Both will be Juniors next year. These three players, Nive Tuileta, Devin Kahahawai, and Maui Robins, are the best young volleyball players coming out of Hawaii in the next few years.
