Kat Fischer from Oregon. Plum/Bergsma/Brenner rightfully deserved the spotlight. But the Plum-Fischer connection was maybe the most fun to watch because of the range of shots Fischer had and the wrinkles Oregon had in its offense to get her loose. I still remember this kill at 31:22 (5-3 OU second set): ^^ Fischer. One of my favorite "short" OH's. She was only 5'10 and got the job done in so many ways.

Nikki Fowler, OH - Tennessee - 6 rotation player that was a force for Tenn all 4 years.
Sha'Dare McNeal, RS - Texas - Swiss Army Knife, could do it all at a high level.
Mid-major:
Chantale Riddle, RS - New Mexico - should have gone to a P5

Ahhh, Ms. Ivy: one of THE Most Potent, but erratic, OPPs in SU history. She could - and did - take over a match singlehandedly: or could "go into a big-ol'-funk"! STREAKY.

There are numerous players who play/played for teams outside the spotlight (i.e. the Big 10, Pac 12, and a handful of other teams) who had just as much talent as many of the players who received fanfare because they played on the "spotlight" teams, but didn't receive as much recognition

Fischer demolished PSU in the third set, the main reason they won that set with the match tied 1-1. That set win loosened Oregon up, and they cruised to victory in the 4th.

Colleen Ward. Bartsch gets a lot of the credit for Illinois’ 2011 run (and she deserves it), but Ward was just as good, maybe even a little better in the tournament matches. Also, whatever happened to her? I’ve barely heard anything about her since she graduated.

Haley Jacob (Oregon) - amazing libero, flew everywhere, and had a wicked serve that would give passers fits Tambre Nobles (BYU) - 6 rotation outside who was invaluable to BYU's championship run in 2014 Hannah Allison (Texas) - a setter surrounded by an arsenal of hitters who outshined her (Eckerman, Webster, Bell etc.) but always got the job done Katie Hoekman (San Diego) - MB who hit a mean slide (alongside Ferrari) and helped her team to their historic 2013 season Mary Pollmiller (Tennessee/Nebraska) - very smart and disciplined setter, nothing flashy but like Allison, she got the job done

Jenn Hucke too. I got bored and re-watched the finals with Ogonna vs. Minnesota. Had forgotten about Hucke until then. Ahhh, Ms. Ivy: one of THE Most Potent, but erratic, OPPs in SU history. She could - and did - take over a match singlehandedly: or could "go into a big-ol'-funk"! STREAKY.

I thought initially she & Murphy went to Florida so they could play together.

I'm definitely an outsider looking in here, but I feel like for Penn State, Kristin Carpenter is a really good example of this.
Less sure about this, but I feel like we don't hear much about McClendon, Whitney, or Scott anymore. What ever happened to them?

I like how almost the entire starting lineup for the 2009 Gophers was mentioned here at some point, minus Tabi Love and Lauren Gibbemeyer. Truly a team of under the radar players that could sneak up on you, I feel like.

Bryn Kehoe, Stanford - first EVER Freshman Setter to lead her team to the National Championship (2004) - she was Super-solid her other three years (with 2 other Finals appearances). A Rock!
