Do you all think that even though the passing is bad and they're often out of system, MN sometimes isn't aggressive enough? I know, it's not the "responsible" thing to do, but sometimes I think they send too many rally balls over or tip too much when out of system - obviously to extend the rally and hopefully give themselves a chance to be in system. But,sometimes when they're not too far out of system I want them to just swing away and put pressure on the other team. Maybe it's my lack of faith that extending the rally will consistently increase they're chances at winning the point (despite those crazy rallies in the 5th set tonight).
Then again, as bad as their passing might be, they're defense and blocking isn't bad, so I guess they have a decent chance of getting another offensive opportunity. But, will they against the better teams? Again, clearly not all of the time, but more often I think they should be aggressive out of system. They have good hitters.

Hugh clearly believes that the way to win is to make fewer mistakes. If that means being conservative and unaggressive, it's a feature, not a bug.

Anytime you use the word all, your probably wrong. Our hitting is one thing that was good tonight. I would not change the hitting strategy against this team. Will they for other teams? Maybe, the game plan changes as needed, depending upon the opponent.
On Kilkelly, she will continue to improve as the season goes on, shes a freshman.

There's a happy medium, imo. What you don't want to do is play it back over without some sort of purpose. You don't want to set the other team either.

(R)uffda, you make reference to one play, out of system, which I'm sure was not part of the game plan. I thought the hitting tonight was with purpose for a high%. I'm not as disappointed as you seem to be. I really didn't expect this team to do this well without the setter. Unfortunately, its beginning to look like Minnesota needs a long term solution. When you look at the teams that could beat us; it is bleak. But other than Nebraska (and Wisconsin who we already played), the B1G is a bit error prone, something Minnesota can take advantage of. If you look at the teams we could beat it looks much better. If we finished 3rd in the B1G, I would be ecstatic.
Hmm, I seemed to have used the word if quite a bit.

That sequence of blocks against Wetterstrom really did Michigan in. They needed to try that May play a little earlier. Does Michigan have any good outsides coming in next year? To be fair, Welsh's decision making was oof at times. Same in other matches. To answer your question YES! Mruzik was named MVP for the YNT that won gold, and she was an absolute baller. Passing can be suspect at times, but she can crack the ball. But, I must say it's not like this season is even remotely close to over If incoming setter Scottee Johnson can perform at a B1G level next season, Michigan could be really good. I really like how our team will look in 2021.

Minnesota has always (well, for a couple decades at least) had difficulties at the Michigans. I’ll take the win, and not worry about the details of the play.

I'm far from disappointed. I'm just bummed about Miller, because long-term they need her.

Great game from Hart tonight and they really needed her, since Samedy was MIA in the first 2 sets.
Paige Jones had a career night, but felt like she may have run out of gas a bit in sets 4 & 5. Her face block of Samedy was almost a game changer.
The debate over swining away vs. low error rages on, but I think I'd prefer to have 13 HE rather than 34.
