What if Tina could play defense behind Tinas block? Or what if Tina had Kelly’s on-two game? Someone else mentioned it, but Tina is way too predictable. If she developed a full arsenal of shots it might force teams to start serving her.

The Final is still an hour away, but I calculated the attack efficiency (points minus errors/attempts) for Doha. Only for all main draw attackers above the FIVB 55% "success" level and added a few defenders at random.
Kelly Cheng leads the list. And is likely to stay there after the Finals stats are in. Duda and Ludwig had below par games. Barbara is surprisingly low for a Finals team. This is the first time that I recall Anastasija being ranked as the top attack defender - and Stam so low for a blocker.
Cheng .532 Carol .458 Kloth .457 Wilkerson .451 Huberli .447 Graudina .444 Ana Patricia .439 Samoilova .422 Gottardi .402 Hughes .398 Nuss .398
Rebecca .390 Stam .386 Melissa H-P .377 Brunner .345 Duda .333 Barbara .319 Ludwig .282

So good to see Brandie using her hands more consistently. Makes a huge difference.

those AP/Duda hitting stats are shocking. I would expect Duda to be over .400 and AP to be over .470. That AP is the 6th on the Blocker list just doesn't make any sense. Also, who thought Samoilova would be the highest Little? Wind? Early season?
Now on to watch the Men's replays.

Carol/Barbara win the first 21-18. They had less errors and played slightly better defence. Brandie served at least 3 balls out by 1.5-2m.

She even had a couple swings with no block up and couldn’t put it down. But overall a good event for them. Is this the first Elite 16 win for Carol/Barbara?

Looks like it is their first Elite 16 Gold. They've also won a Doha Challenge Gold.

Interested in Schoon and Menegatti. Probably Samiolova’s best tournament ever and Latvia still gets another 4th. That team’s allergic to the podium.

If a player is not on this list, does that mean they didn’t registered enough attempts. Interested in Schoon and Menegatti. Probably Samiolova’s best tournament ever and Latvia still gets another 4th. That team’s allergic to the podium. I took all the main draw players with 55% "success" from the FIVB page. That percentage does not deduct errors. en.volleyballworld.com/beachvolleyball/competitions/beach-pro-tour/2024/elite16/doha-qat/statistics/women/best-attackers/And then I added a few defenders, but did not have time to do the entire list of players. Menegatti Marta ITA 81 kills 19 errors 49.09% (without deducting errors) 165 attempts = .376 after deducting errors. That puts her right behind Melissa. Schoon Raïsa NED 37 kills 9 errors 46.26% 80 attempts Staitsically, I think you're right about this being Anastasija's best tournament. Tina has been pretty stable top five attacker - and server. Samoilova's movement on defense also was better -- until the bronze match. Cheng .532 Kloth .457 Huberli .447 Graudina .444 Ana Patricia .439 Carol .434 Wilkerson .433 Samoilova .422 Gottardi .402 Hughes .398 Nuss .398 Rebecca .390 Stam .386 Melissa H-P .358 Menegatti .346 Brunner .345 Barbara .339 Duda .333 Ludwig .282

If she developed a full arsenal of shots it might force teams to start serving her. They played a good match at the end of pool, after MHB already knew they were off first, but this was a good draw 4th. Tina is very good, and this team can medal now and then when they get a good draw, but they aren't growing into consistent contenders. They lack talent as a whole and aren't a great fit either. As mentioned Tina's option game is poor and she both makes mistakes with her attacks and chooses poorly when to attack. Ana does not have the skills a Mel or Nuss has to make up for her inconsistent offense. Speaking of Mel, that team blows another one. Brazil 2 has been playing excellent volleyball for a while, but drawing them in the final is probably the best draw you can hope for. In their last 5 Elites, MHB have taken two set beatings from Brazil 2 twice, Germany, TKN, Aussies, and the Dutch. They have also lost to Agatha/Rebecca and Tina/Ana. About half those losses were in pool so maybe not as problematic, but MHB have to figure out how to play consistently and with resilience. Too often they get on the court and can't keep swings or serves in, and the elite elements of their game disappear. Mel hits .250 and Brandie gets 1 block. Brandie misses 5 serves.

It’s wild to see completely empty stands. It’s so weird to see all of the players still waving to empty seats whenever they are introduced as if there are fans.

Not really sure why Doha continues to host events. Ive never seen it crowded there and most of the time its near empty. Qataris just are not sports fans but whoever it is there that keeps putting up all this money, thank you for keeping the sport alive
