Washington had a sellout because they lowered their prices to $10/ticket from $50/ticket to have a sellout. Why don't they do that every game? They specifically chose to do it for Nebraska because they were aware of the draw. Also, if you've ever had a seat in the nose-bleed section at HecEd you'd realize that $10 might not be such a bargain. I certainly don't know all the ticket situation at UDub. The ones I got were at 135 per. I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't get the best deal, however, as an out-of-towner

Yeah, I gotta go with Russ Rose. Didn’t inherit a great program, built from scratch. I forget how many NC in a row. OTOH, I reffed at Penn State once. He was a real jerk. Making a determination based on one exposure is a little unfair. He IS without a doubt a leader in the clubhouse for sarcasm and demands perfection from officials just like his players. Maybe one of you Making a determination based on one exposure is a little unfair. Also, anyone who played for the wonderful Elaine Michaelis, would think anyone else rude. One classy lady.

John Cook has shaped the sport SO much and does deserve his flowers! Any word of when he may retire? I’d assume after Harper and Bergen’s class? No one is saying he doesn't deserve recognition for what he's done for the sport. He's been amazing at growing the sport and getting people excited to attend college volleyball matches. However, that doesn't necessarily mean he's the greatest of all-time. I guess the best way to start is what is the criteria for GOAT status? NCAA Championships, Conference Championships, number of All-Americans, number of All-Americans who were NOT top recruits, winning percentage... all fair things to consider, among others. That's precisely what I would say. Kudos!

Russ Rose is the goat, 7-0 in national championship matches. End of discussion. Actually, it's 7-3. He lost his first 3 in the 90's, then won the next 7.

It's true, he was rough on officials, but it was a calculated move. Don't forget he was coaching long before 'replay' was available. He didn't want to lose a match for an officiating mistake but also learned that he could intimidate officials to make errors in his favor. Actually, a lot of coaches learned those lessons prior to the advent of the 'challenge' system.

I’m sure he’s a lovely person. His jerkiness started before the match, so it wasn’t a matter of me having an off day! There are many officials who have/had the same opinion. (See the post above this one). He was an amazing coach. GOAT in my opinion. He wasn’t as big of a jerk as Brian Gimelarro, but he was a close 2nd! And yes, Elaine is a sweetheart.
