I thought Dayton was very good coming into the year.

But when you look at them on paper now - loss to Marquette, win vs. Illinois, Northern Iowa, FGCU, Wright State. Suspended match vs. Ohio State (tied)

Nothing says they should be 'unbeatable'. Also, Loyola-Chicago has some pieces (mainly Borum, but Cvitkovic I thought would actually have an even better year)

Virginia just won an important match with Notre Dame. Virginia has very little wiggle room - beating North Carolina *could* be good enough to do it. They certainly don't want to lose that match and take their chances.

Except WKU does not have a bid to be stolen. Probably would be a bigger deal for teams like Tennessee(!), Dayton, Marquette, Illinois who were hoping for them to count as a Top 50 victory.

Except WKU does not have a bid to be stolen.

I don't know how far they fall and they could theoretically have 3 top 50 wins. I doubt it happens but there's still some RPI movement to happen.

Arkansas State is still playing (they're guaranteed T50 if they beat Texas State).

But you're right. I mean Ball State was at least a few spots (they were in the 50s) behind the cut line with 1 sketchy win and even worse losses. Different year, but the scars remain.

What geographical standpoint are you referring to?

The committee did not (and will not) that in a borderline decision they will go with what makes sense geographically. The top 16 hosts are to be determined without looking at geography (whether that happens or not).

GT just lost today… Florida can win out and they have a chance to host. I wish somehow they could sneak into 13 or 14. I really don’t want them paired up with Nebraska or Pitt in the sweet 16 (if they win the rounds they should)
