.......and yet you responded back. Well if my posting history is any indication, I usually like to have the last word. By the way, you guys don't make "juicy fruit" the way you use to so I've switched gum.

but when #2 and #3 lose in the same week, both being swept, one on their home court, it's easier to justify keeping #1 at the top. In Stanford's defense, they were swept by a top 5 team. Nebraska lost to an "unranked" team. Washington didn't lose. The Huskies should have been voted one. That's who I voted #1 in our little volleytalk informal poll.

Washington would have a better shot at being top ranked if they had played a little tougher competition between the AVCA and the Pac 10 season, in my opinion. Nebraska didn't play top ten teams, but they played some ranked squads, although I think the matches were all at home. Washington played in a tournament at Davidson as part of Jim's "see obscure parts of America" tour, which has also been to Fargo and DeKalb, Illinois in past seasons, if memory serves. I don't think their other opponents were too strong, either. A stronger non-conference win than Ohio would help their case to be the top team. Still, given all they lost from last year, it is impressive that they are in the running. I was surprised how good they looked in the AVCA.

I'm sure she had her reasons. Like if you keep Nebraska #1, then Florida's win over Colorado looks better(same for Hawaii). Or maybe by keeping them #1, they'll won't be sent to Gainesville, even if the polls don't have any relevance to the bracket.

Washington has 3 top 10 victories (Stanford, UCLA, USC) and no losses against teams outside of the top 10. Nebraska has only one top 10 victory (Texas) and a loss to an unranked. The Huskies conference success should not be outweighed by who they played prior to their confrence season, or their loss to Texas. There is no valid argument to defend Nebraska's position, aside from politics.

If you go by the RKPI, UW's non conference schedule was rated 75th. The top 10 are: Texas Hawaii Pepperdine Nebraska Minnesota Cal Poly UNC Colorado Florida San Diego

I only care because there are actually people like Mix Breed who believe 4 of the top 5 teams in the country are all in the Pac10. Stuff like this just humors them.
Perception matters, whether the poll means nothing or not. You don't think this affects recruiting? Attendance? Media coverage? Even seeds?
OK. I don't care either. Just thought I'd try...
