On Cindy's blog, her talking to Shoji, he said they are done with 2013 recruiting. He's going with 3 MBs and also Kristina Kam is looking to play somewhere else for her last year, being a fifth year redshirt.

He's going with 3 MBs and also Kristina Kam is looking to play somewhere else for her last year, being a fifth year redshirt. About Kam, this may be splitting hairs, but Cindy said "I had heard a rumor that Kam might look to play somewhere else for a season. Shoji said that might happen." That's different from what you wrote: that "Kam is looking to play somewhere else ..."

Sometimes, I read these threads backward, from p. 10 to p. 8. It can be confusing at times. For instance, I thought the reference to Kyra Goodman redshirting and playing setter was mind-blowing. First, I thought the poster misspelled Kaela's name. Second, isn't it odd to redshirt right before your senior year? Third, did she change position from OH to S?

About Kristina Kam, I quoted Cindy's article incorrectly, got it meshed up with the talk I had with Kris's mom Jeannie who told me she's looking.

So has Kristina Kam left the team?
Wolfgang, Teisa Fotu redshirted her senior year, as did Alicia Arnott. The latter didn't return the following year.

According to SA, Monica Stauber has left the team. Also, Kyra Goodman, Kaela's sister, will join the team. She's a 5-11 setter. I am just getting around to reading this thread. I have seen Kyra and wondered if she was Kaela's sister. I thought there was a good chance because they look so much alike. IMO Kyra is better than some have posted here and will be in the mix for a starting position after Uiato graduates.

Kyra Goodman is a legit D1 setter! She is very experienced and brings an extremely high volleyball IQ along with height and athleticism. I am most impressed with the fact that she actually plays defense. She and Higgins will definitely be contributors.

I hope Dave Shoji uses that 1 available scholarship for a really good middle. (Like Annie Mitchum). Because I think we need at least another great middle. I think Hawaii is very established in the middle. I think we're going to see a lot of Vorster and Adolpho. Tuaniga is the quickest middle the Wahine has, I am surprised that she has not start at all in any of the matches this past season. Vorster has been a big surprise, but I think Adolpho has the making of a dominant middle. This past season has been like a debut for her, so for sure she will get better and better. The 2013 Incoming Class is turning out to be one of the best classes in a long time. I think Kyra Goodman, is a very good setter and will definitely push for playing time. She comes in from a very good club in Cali is physical enough that Hawaii can actually run a 6-2, which is a long shot, because I don't think Dave Shoji is a fan of a 6-2 offense.

Actually, Kyra Goodman, will be redshirting next year. Do not forget, Shoji has an excellent setter coming in next year, the girl from Punahou. Shoji will be set at the setter position for the next 4-5 years, at least.

Actually, Kyra Goodman, will be redshirting next year. I really doubt that this is a true statement. It may turn out that way, but I doubt that the decision to redshirt has already been made.

She is 6-0 tall, very athletic, great hands, fast, and is alot more athletic compared to her sister. She has a great jump floater, and very good in the backcourt as well. With Tayler Higgins, I think Hawaii will have two very good young setters for the future!

I have seen video of Kyra Goodman, and I will be shocked if she beats out Tayler Higgins, who is up for the best high school setter, for the backup spot to Mita Uiato. Why waste a year and carry 3 setters, when you can reshirt her, and have the setter position solidified for 4-5 years, after next year.
