Hartong will be thinking about that 4th set swing during the entire Christmas break. No, actually, I will. Brah i'm still pissed. One swing away from pulling off the upset. Hartong is still my girl tho. She'll come back with a vengeance next year. The whole team will. Final four garanz. Considering Hartong is the heart and soul of this team I don't think there was anyone else who deserved to take that swing. It didn't fall, but she has to know the fans are all behind her and look forward to seeing what she can do next year.

The set was terrible, it's not totally Hartong's fault but wish she tipped it instead of slamming it right at the great wall of china (Gil)

I'm confused. TK is a Junior and has already used her red shirt year. So she can't transfer anywhere and play, can she? Stauber, on the other hand, is a true Soph. she definitely can...not all transfers need to sit out a year...it's not a requirement in all cases but it's hard for me to see Tuaniga transfer out after being with the program for four years...although on the other hand she may transfer out to some place where she can finish her career on a high note being able to see the court Sorry, you're obviously correct or Longo and Kastl wouldn't be playing this year. But having to look for an exception would limit TK's choices, would it not? At least much more than Stauber who still has her red shirt year and is only a Sophomore. Especially if Stauber sees the writing on the wall (Higgins)...

Yes it does limit her choices, but if I'm not mistaken the only time you need to redshirt is if you transfer to another school within your conference or if you're not granted a release from your current school... once again I might be wrong, I don't know the exact details of having to redshirt and not redshirt when it comes to transfers...but I believe their are quite a bit of options out there if she was to transfer... but I would like to see her stay and stick it out and work hard to earn that starting spot...she has as good of a chance as anyone to start next season, considering she has been with the Wahine team the longest out of all the middle blockers and lots of the players considering it will be her fifth year...it will just be up to her to how much work she will put in to improve her game

I agree, i wish she would've tipped the ball but that was one big block(er). Lelepali choked big time. Two service errors in a row. Not just her Maeda choked too & Kalei missed an easy put down on the overpass. Lots of blame to go around. But they still made us proud.

Hmm, that's not the case in football... OK, I looked it up and you're right (again)... www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/NCAA/Resources/Latest+News/2012/May/Get+the+facts+about+transfersStudent-athletes who participate in most NCAA sports are eligible for a one-time transfer exception, which allows them to compete immediately after transfer once in their college experience if they meet all other transfer requirements (such as being academically eligible).
However, student-athletes in sports that are historically academically underperforming – including basketball, football, baseball and men’s ice hockey – are not eligible for the exception. So it would seem that volleyball players are allowed a one-time transfer exception which TK would be eligible for. So her options would be pretty wide open. Hope she doesn't leave, tho.

Next Year UH will probably have to go through a tough USC regional and make it through to the final four held back at UW.
In 2014, UH will most likely play in the UW regional. So the next two years, if the Wahine want to win a national title, it'll have to go through UW in some shape or form.

Someone should've yelled tip because the set was a little tight, with two huge blockers right there.

Here is a quote from both Jim M. and Dave S. after the match.
"It was a huge win for our program. Hawaii is big-time. It's been big-time many years. It's too bad they didn't get to host."
Shoji jumped on that subject last, blasting the NCAA for not seeding his team and allowing it to host.
"It's a disservice to our athletes to disrespect them like that," he said finally, and angrily.

I'm hoping Shoji sits down his team and tells them they need to hold on to this loss for next year, because it needs to keep next year's seed out of the NCAA's hands. As close as this match was it would have been a win in Honolulu. The Husky fans should pat themselves on the back, because it seemed like they willed their team back into this match. That Cal loss now looms huge for this team, if they had won that match they would be sitting pretty with a seed and on their way to a regional.

I agree, Adolpho needs to focus solely on VOLLEYBALL. She's a damn good basketball player but all the glory in women's athletics at UH is with the volleyball program. How many people attend Wahine basketball games? Hardly any but a lot of people watch volleyball. She can be a BEAST on the vball court if she wanted too. She's good now but she has the potential to be amazing. I would like to agree with you that she needs to focus on volleyball, but we can't really force that on her if her love is basketball... she is also on a basketball scholarship so she has to have her loyalties to the basketball team... I agree completely. The fact that basketball is not "big" at UH should have nothing to do with her decision. If basketball is what she wants, and why she is on scholarship, then so be it. The fact that she can find a role on the volleyball team is a bonus. And if someone works hard and beats her out at MB, then so be it.

More than that Hartong swing, I'll be thinking more about the two Lelepali serves from that gym all the way to Mount St. Helens, or the Maeda serve that was pretty much the same, and the Adolpho ball hit out on that overpass.
