Good win. Way to come back with tough serving and stabilization of side-out & transition game. Pins still need to block better (thank god our middles are so good), but I was pleased the passing held up, and the subs showed some great floor defense and minimized errors.

Great to see them rally for the win, albeit against a depleted Argentinian team. Some very sloppy play by USA made it painful at times to watch. Although K Shoji performed better than Thornton today, our setting is still a weak link. Better setting and less showboating would be more useful. Overall team blocking needs to improve significantly; we should have dominated against the smaller Argentinians. Still, glad to get the split and I'm looking forward to lots more volleyball, players and lineups to come. I have no doubt Coach Speraw will be successful in developing his young talent and finding the winning combination.

In volleyball I think blocking is the MOST experience and scouting based skill, I think they will exponentially get better there if we can get the other team out of system enough.

There were a lot of good things happening and still lots to work on, but it's nice to see that they don't need to work on everything haha.
Anyway, I was really impressed with E. Shoji. He was extremely solid passing, especially tonight and his defense is solid. I'm hoping he fully takes over from Lambourne. Speaking of passing, I think this team will be pretty good here, Ciarelli, Anderson, and especially Lotman were all solid and can still improve. So here's to hoping that this will be a much better passing team than last quad.
Setting is still a bit shaky but I definitely think Shoji is capable, he certainly performed better than Thornton who I just don't think will emerge. Then we have to see how Caldwell and Ammerman do as well.
The opposite is going to be interesting, I think Clark and Troy were both about even offensively, but Clark showed better serving (which looks like a major strength for this team). They're both fast and smaller, but that might work. I think Clark as a lefty provides nice variety. This is the spot where I could see Menzel though if they wanted to go for a big hammer.
I'm excited to see what happens this summer!

He will astound us over the next few years I imagine.

I saw him doing quite a bit of exhorting of the other guys which is important for the team's chemistry.

Paul lotman reminds me of Riley Salmon. Garrett is def not ready, maybe put Tony back on to gain more confidence in the next couple home matches and ready or big matches against Poland and Brazil. I cant imagine when this team is in system, tell the world to watch out!!!!

I just realized they play France in the next match. They will have to serve, pass, and play defense at an even higher level to beat France or to avoid getting swept. If I was a player i'd all ready be watching video of matches with the players that are on the French roster, would watch video in my downtime.

I simply loved the way our team performed last night. But I'd like to see a few changes in the squad (Kyle Caldewell replacing Brian Thornton and Brad Lawson replacing Garrett Muagututia) for the next matches. Carson Clark was amazing with his powefull serve. I'm only a bit concerned about Matt Anderson. He's been very inconsistent and he is not honoring his position of captain. I know it's only a victory so far, but I am so proud that I can not even describe my feelings.
