This is Caldwell's second calendar year as a setter. His first three years in college, he played opposite hitter. This BS keeps getting repeated, and it is simply not true. Caldwell has been setting since his high school days. While he played some Opposite at UCLA, he was always primarily a setter. He had about 1 assist per set as a junior. A little more as a sophomore than I was aware of. Thanks for being a complete dick in pointing it out, though.

At this point I'd prefer if Speraw's been playing Caldwell for personal reasons rather than what's best for the team, because if his intentions were purely the latter that would just make him a really bad coach instead of a crooked good coach. If Caldwell's integrity were more valuable than padding his professional resume, he'd take himself off the team. For those who missed the first set, it should re-air on NBC next week. Somehow, I have the feeling that Al Scates had some influence over the setter selection of the World League pool plays. As a commentator for NBC Sports, I believe he has been to all games the USA team played and helped out during the team practice in Rio. Even though I haven't watched any of the delayed NBC Sports broadcast, I learned from an earlier post by 30killspergame that Coach Scates stated on the air that either Caldwell or Micah C. will be the future setter of the US team. Al scates said on The new pac 12 Network that either Micah C. or Kyle C. will be the 2016 Olympic starting setter. It was either during the USC/UCLA match or USC vs some other team. Can't remember that. The best match the team played was the first one against France when shoji was the setter, we looked really sharp.

If there was ever a time when Anderson, Clark, and Holt all had their serves dialed in at the same time... that'd be scary.

Uh oh, Lucas behind the line and Anderson just wishing the ball out again... please Matt, pass the ball.
Also, yay we're blowing out 4 point lead again, it's all gone...

I can't stand watching this team shoot themselves in the foot over and over again. They're much better than they're playing. Tons of stupid silly errors. Maybe they can pull out set 3 like yesterday, hopefully they can or getting up this early was a big waste of time.

Regardless of setter the rest of the team is making enough unforced errors it won't mater at this point. They need to chill out and just play a point at a time, they look too rattled to me or aggravated. Forget about set one and two guys and just play...

how did set one go? just tuned in. It started out pretty well, side out was good, but tons of serve errors, then Brazil slowly pulled ahead. It ended when Brazil threw a deep corner free ball over and Lotman and Shoji just stood there watching it. Probably one of the dumbest mistakes they've made the whole tournament. I should add that K. Shoji set the first set.

Another serve out of bounds..if they can't score 3 or 4 points on serve in transition, and then pass well enough to have good offense to side out and keep keep it they won't win this set...

So, I really like Carson Clark, but he needs to learn how to dig a ball, but the whole team kinda does too.
