I would like to seem tehm steady out and play better in transition but i know its a young squad so ill just watch and enjoy. Now they are

Lotman is in for Anderson in set 3, who would have thought but anything could happen in this early stage!

Smith is very good at moving the ball around I LOVE it. To often power servers can't control where they go and that handicaps their ability to be effective.

This 16-12 lead is off unforced errors is just what they need to take this set hopefully and build more confidence.

Now they are Anderson was not doing well as far as I could tell from the blobs on my screen. Halfway through Set 2, they announced that he was hitting -.091. Argentina bailed USA out in Set 3 with a bunch of serve errors at the end. Let's see if USA can serve more accurately and clean up serve receive.

Yup Yup and the transition game as well. The latter will take longer time to get more crisp though.

The potential is there. Trouble was that team started off making some unforced errors. Brian Thornton delivered a few ugly balls - very low. Shoji seemed to be pretty nervous. He made many mistakes that are not like him and our hitters were forced to rotate their arms all the time. Troy and Clark proved that they can be unstoppable if they are fed with a decent set. David Smith was the star of the match, IMO. Despite the loss I liked the match. It was intense and I believe that our guys are able to bounce back. Very excited for the second one!.

Too many unforced errors, particularly at crucial moments, didn't allow us to gain any momentum, but with a young team, that's not unexpected. Blocking needs to improve and setting was erratic at best and a key weakness. Both Thornton and Shoji were serious liabilities at the net and neither seemed to have any setting rhythm. David Smith was the one constant throughout the match and Lotman brought a boost off the bench. Ciarelli, Clark and Troy all had their moments, but need to improve their consistency. I expect Speraw to continue to experiment with different players and line-ups as he works to develop this young squad. Lots of potential and fun to watch.

It was good to finally see some youth plugged into the national team. This team will struggle this year but Speraw is a great coach knowing that they will get experience now and peak in rio. We have some very talented players but most are making there first starts at this level. Dave smith was definitely a solid force in that game it will be interesting to see what happens at that middle spot with holt Holmes and lee competing for those spots. Tough to see Matt Anderson struggle a little but the setting wasn't great but good to see lotman and Cirelli getting action. Interesting to Cirelli not play overseas last year and get the nod. At oppo I think Troy will end up being the guy he has good size and is strong Carson is explosive and quick but if the setters can't keep the tempo he will lose his effectiveness against some of the veteran teams and he needs to provide a little more from the serving line and blocking. As for the setters shoji was a little flustered but for his first match not too bad and it will only get better as for Thornton he is a good setter but needs to find his rythmn with this new squad but lack of blocking on the right side was even a problem against Argentina. Still would like to see menzel holt and Caldwell on the court they have some intangibles that you can't teach some of these guys.
