Should the Huskers go looking for a transfer MB for 2024 given the Ames situation? I think we’re still pretty thin on MBs and are quite stacked on OHs. Perhaps a Graduate transfer? Jordan Hopp, grad transfer from Iowa State, would be a likely possibility. Alliance HS product. It would have to be someone that knew the likelihood of being a starter is not great, willing to compete, be quality depth and satisfied with this role in the team. The key would be being a Husker and all that entails would be worth it to both player, team and team chemistry.

Not unless Maggie gives up VB, and I hope she doesn’t. 2024 we have 2 jr. and 1 sophomore MB. We are fine. Our 2026 incoming class will need a MB recruit assuming we don’t find a 2025 MB.

That’s an extremely possible unless. More likely to go elsewhere to play volleyball than to stay at Nebraska and only play basketball.

I heard from someone that knows the Batenhorst family and they said in Tampa that she will graduate this spring. So she might not need to transfer-she might be done.

Ally may not be alone among the “juniors”. It might even be most academically talented athletes graduate by the end of their junior year. They may start a summer or full semester early, and have a semester or more of high school classes eligible for college credit. Tons of volleyball players in their fourth year of eligibility are grad students. (Of course that does make transferring a little easier.)

Nebraska is going to be perfectly fine for 2024, but I see quite the conundrum brewing (for the current Nebraska standards) for 2025+. Aymes switching to Texas (and the further Mendelson transfer) doesn't really leave Nebraska with a Nebraska quality MB for depth. Sure there are some talented middles in the portal, but it would seem quite the task to get a Nebraska quality middle in the portal only to sit behind Allick and Jackson. Players that good presumably WANT to play. Now with Jurevicious leading, after 2024, the only returning pin starter will be Murray and the only other pin depth would be Pierce...and I dunno if she's gonna make the cut of what Nebraska needs to win titles. I'm always open to be proven wrong, but I don't see an elite six rotation attacker right now in Pierce. The rest of the hitting talent for 2025 will be true freshman..... I'm curious to see how Cook navigates the 2024/2025 transition.
