Steam-rolling was the problem Larson pointed out. Hugh did not prepare for disasters and when it happened, he did not know what to do. And judging by the stats, neither did Larson or Harmotto. View AttachmentView Attachmenti was so high on hugh until that disaster of a gold medal match. switching out larson for hodge and keeping her in was ridiculous. taking thompson(glass won the grand prix) proven gold medal winner, haneef, taking arruda/harmotto over bown. HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE mistake. i blame the coach. HE CHOKED.

If Glass is taken to Rio, wouldn't it be smarter to take another 5-1 setter in case Glass' injury comes back or is re-injured? karch would be insane to take thompson. and kreklow i'm not high on. jesus christ can't we find other beter setters to at least give a chance. Which setters would you like to see?

We've seen every roster since 2011 not follow what you're suggesting. Two opposites are selected to every travel roster: one is the starting opposite, and one is used for the double-sub. The same is true for setters. We don't take the two best 5-1 setters; we take the best 5-1 setter to start, and the best double-sub setter. We don't need two opposites with the exact same skill set, same strengths, same weaknesses. It makes more sense to take someone who is able to contribute cold off the bench and in areas where the starter is weak. And, just because they're both lefties who attack the same set doesn't mean that they're able to come into the middle of a set and contribute immediately. This suggestion just flies ignorantly in the face of what's been happening regarding roster selections. Why was Glass left home in 2012? Because, despite being the next best option to set the 5-1, she wasn't good off the bench in the double-sub role. Thompson was, which is why Glass started at the WGP finals before London while Thompson still went to run the double-sub in every set. Why was Metcalf left home in 2012? Because, despite being the next best six-rotation opposite, she wasn't good off the bench in the double-sub role. Haneef-Park was (well, was supposed to be...), which is why Metcalf started at the WGP finals before London while Haneef-Park still went to run the double-sub in every set. Ok well this is assuming that neither Lowe or Murphy are good "off the bench". I think it's fine to demote one of them and bring Fawcett if both of them are not good off the bench in a double sub role, but I'm not sure that's really the case. But again, it's also nice if the second opposite is strong in areas where the starting opposite isn't in case changes need to be made. Karch seems to be more willing to make changes to the lineup and more willing to expand roles (i.e. Dixon becoming a serving sub near the end of the World Championships), so what would be the point of bringing two players with the same weaknesses? Fawcett allows them to bring an opposite that brings more to the table than lefthandedness while also being good off the bench.

Which setters would you like to see? hudson from long beach or even a hard push for carlini. karch is so high on trying a younger group and he keeps thompson in that makes on sense at all. i mean glass is the setter but let's look at better options for her back up time is ticking.

No idea what you're attempting to communicate here. are they bringing 2 or 3 oppos? Only 12 athletes are named to the Olympic roster, so, using logic and history, they'll bring 2... ...like they have on every major tournament roster for at least the last decade.

Are you being serious? Hudson from Long Beach would get called for Lifts every damn time in international play and she's not that good.
