Well you put much more effort into that then I did, but you made some good points. Serena wasn't the favorite at Wimbledon? Vegas might have had it otherwise. In any event. You could be right about the 13's on the AVP. I don't even know some of those guys. But if most of the 9th place teams on the AVP would be favored to win the NVL then I think the AVP is easily superior past the top 6 teams. I guess your argument is that the best team on the NVL could possibly pull a 7th on the AVP. How would the NVL teams outside of the top 4 do on the AVP? 9th place teams on the AVP should win the NVL, but 9th place NVL teams probably couldn't qualify to get into an AVP... By favored I meant considered to have a better than 50% chance to win. So if you are favored you are the favorite but not always vice versa. So Serena was both favored and the favorite whereas Spieth had no better than a 20% chance to win but was the favorite. I think this week some of the top 6 teams lost early (Todd/Casey) but you are right in that I am saying some of the NVL teams could finish 7th on the AVP. But in a world where the Bomgrens follow a 3rd with a 5th, hard to say there is a big gap outside of the top few. Outside of the top 4 on the NVL, I think there are 4-5 teams that would regularly qualify.

To be honest I dont get why Williams is playing with McCoy. Yes they won last week, but in the matches I have seen McCoy does not look great. I wonder if this might be similar to when Williams played with Rambis. Not a lot of interest left on the men's side of the NYC event. Maybe Doherty/Mayer can give Casey/Jake a run but Ryan has consistently done his worst when matched up against his ex partner. The women's side looks all but done although I am curious to see how much of Claes/Hughes' success was due to April/Jen stinking it up. One thing that really stood out for me is neither of the young girls had any trouble at all with Jen's block. Also in Game 2, the little one dug April's best swing on 19-19. How that team lost three matches in college is beyone me. The big one was ripping balls like a young Elaine out there. Im hoping for a Branagh win, or at least a finals appearance, and it looks as feasible as it ever will be (maybe 5% chance), but Day/Kessey will probably win

If Claes/Hughes play like they did against Fopma/Ross yesterday then they will win this whole dam thing. I agree with you, Fopma usually bothers people with her block but they had zero issues. and the little one as you say is 5'10 per BVB...

Kessey/Day squeak one out. If these two win, do they leave school? Forfeit their eligibility to take the money?
Either way, how many calls are each getting from established players after this tournament?

Claes/Hughes tightening up in game 3 (By which I mean Claes tightening up). For whatever reason Hughes cant do a thing with Day's cross court hit. if day passes it, she's swinging cross every time and Sara isnt even touching them. Not sure why because she has made a few awesome digs on other plays.
Dain is coaching them so you wonder why he doesnt say, "just step in, she has hit the same shot 12 straight times." Claes is better but Hughes is so composed. Reminds me a little of when Mayer came on tour with Rooney and Keenan.
Down 9-4 in the 3rd they switch sides.

Does anyone know the broadcast situation with the finals? Streamed or on NBC in the next couple days? I don't see it on today on NBCS but maybe just missing it?

I don't really think April was on the stink wagon other than being rattled by losing to B/K then having to face a more composed C/H.
C/H didn't get steamrolled by Jen/April in their first meeting but clearly April's serve was eating Claes alive.
What I saw were two college kids rattling the nerves of our top players at times, and other times making silly mistakes. But what a chance to prove you can hang with quality competition.
Sitting on Day's angle would open the entire court but the block must get there too. When the block and setting come to Claes watch out. She has only been playing beach 3 years.
