Will Florida redshirt King and/or Huskey? Are they eligible for redshirts? Definitely not this year, but it will be interesting to see what Mary does, as she's very deep, but hard to keep that many players from going stir crazy in a non-redshirt year. 2017 possibilites: Redshirt King -- she's high potential, but will potentially sit behind Alhassan and Kramer next year. Mary has Kellum as a back-up as needed, so 'shirting King would give her 3 more years, and 2 years playing as the M1 with Kramer in '18 and '19. Resdhirt Huskey -- dangerous in case Monserez gets injured, but they've done that in the past (Shade reshirted in '94 since Aggert had the nod). Unless her setting and floor defense vastly improves this spring, Allie M. is too good a floor leader and back-row player. Plus her blocking hasn't been so bad, but we'll see come NCAAs. But with the final Monserez coming in in 2018 (taller and looks like more athletic), then Huskey might get lost in the shuffle. I agree that Mia will likely be the Opp back-up if Joseph struggles like this year (but RS is her more natural position, so here's hoping her 5th year is stellar). Guessing with Hammond's all around game she'll team up with Snyder, so odds are both Mia and Greer will be off-the-benchers based on how recruiting is shaping up on the pins in 2017 and 2018. If they asked King to sit I bet she'd strongly consider transferring.

You can't redshirt once you a play in a match. You can apply for a medical redshirt if you sustain a season-ending injury and played in less than 25% of the season, or something like that.

I, too, thought that King would consider transferring, but she has quite the connection to this program. Both of her cousins played for Mary. It's a good problem to have, having too many elite middles! But one that Mary will probably need to figure out asap to avoid transfers...

Oh sorry, I think I meant to ask about Sokolowski this year, not King/Huskey. It would be interesting to see if King/Huskey redshirt next year

Sokolowski and Nieves have officially redshirted this year. Mary mentioned something about it at one of her Gator Talk things a month or two ago

So Hammons is a shoe-in for OH2? I was hoping Mia would get some playing time next year. All I know for sure is that the Joseph experiment at OH2 hasn't worked out, but hoping RS does next year. It's clear she'll get the nod though with all of her intl experience in that role.
I agree King should be redshirted next year, although she may still surpass Kramer in the offseason. I think Kramer's length has proven too valuable.
Anyway, I wanted to take look at our likely starting lineup in 2017 and our "practice squad". Obviously not much change besides a role shift and addition of Hammons. I really think Florida has a better team now than they will in 2017. Holston will leave such a huge hole. I'm hoping Shainah being better at RS than OH and Hammons being a better OH than Shainah, will help us alleviate the loss of Holston a bit. The 2nd year of our libero, setter and MB2 playing together should also help.
OH1-Snyder 6'1 OH2-Hammons 6'2 OPP-Joseph 6'1 MB1-Alhassan 6'4 MB2-Kramer 6'8 S-Monserez 5'9 L-Knop 5'8 DS-Gregory 5'6
Backups/Practice:
OH1-Greer 6'3 OH2-Sokolowski 6'4 OPP-Sokolowski 6'4 MB1-King 6'3 MB2-Kellum 6'2 S-Huskey 6'2 L-Dubiel 5'6 DS-Rogers 5'9

Based on your above assessment Florida looks to be in good shape for 2017.

I really don't see Greer being happy as backup so I really hope she doesn't transfer after her sophomore year but it wouldn't surprise me. I wonder (and it's just a thought) if Mary Wise has considered Kramer on the right side. I know it's not her most natural position but think of Liz McMahon, Jen Hamson, Mereta Lutz...it makes her less of a liability blocking faster offenses, gives King a well deserved chance to get on the floor and gives offenses a challenge hitting on the left side.

Agreed. Would love to see Kramer on the right. I think Joseph is getting the nod regardless, but she'll have a short leash. King seems to be the better blocker as well.
