Yeah the big Dutch are good and I think could medal but Phil nick are 3-1 against them and there one lose was first time playing them. Also I think 2-0 against the other Dutch team which I think could easy metal. Crazy I don't think Phil nick can easy metal for some reason. I hope so that's for sure!!!

I see how you could think that. I think of the Gold Medal contenders Nick still may have the biggest weakness (putting balls away) I see these teams as the Gold Medal contenders: (Not in order) Another team might get in there like the Italians, but I say its 98% that one of these teams wins. Bruno/Allison Pedro/Evandro Nick/Phil Big Dutch guys Reindeer/Christian Anyway of those ten guys, if you had to serve one and your life depended on scoring that point, I think you go to Nick. I still think they medal and are at least the second best team in the world, but that's a big weakness.

Yep serving nick. There winning ways tho are defense and blocking which are some of the best in the world. But if phils not blocking well that day then there's not as much digging balls by nick and not as much winning games. Even if nick could transition digs to points better than would be huge. I guess in order to do that you would have to be a better side outer which is what makes Bruno so good.

Getting to watch Phil and Nick play 3 times this weekend, the biggest thing I noticed from earlier this year is Phil is setting Nick exactly where he needs it. They beat 2 of those 4 you mention above this weekend, that has to really help the confidence too. Also, Phil was pumped to play the semis and finals. When he wants it, his game goes up a couple notches.

I agree and I do think they are the best team in the world right now, but also that they are very vulnerable if they are off their game even a little. A lot of people say Bruno and I can understand why but for me a motivated Phil Dalhausser is not just the best in the world he is the best by a lot. I thought in the Brazil match Phil set pretty poorly (for him) and thats when Nick had some trouble. That two ball he blocked on Bruno was just incredible and while Allison was not having the best tournament or few weeks, before that, Phil and Nick absolutely worked him

I'd like to see Phil move on his serve approach a bit too, while he still get the hubby/wife ace, I think teams are comfortable now after seeing it so much. If he moved 2 feet one way or the other it would change the communication for the receive team a lot. New angles would create hesitation in reception. Glad Phil & Nick got out of the 1 vs. 4 match up for the Olympics!

I haven't followed the international teams for that long, but Pedro/Evandro seem pretty inconsistent to me and I'd be pretty surprised if they got Gold. I know they can get hot once in awhile, but they just don't seem like they are consistent enough to be a serious contender for Gold.

It was a moving sight - seeing Phil and Nick on the top of the podium as the US anthem played. You can't help but think they want to relive this awesome memory in mid-August.

Guys are any of these matches available online? I can't find any. Searching "FIVB Hamburg" on youtube just returns a bunch of dead streams.

Nick and Phil easily the no. 1 team on tour this summer. Odd year since the Brazilians have played so little, but its remarkable that Phil has now been part of the no. 1 team with three different partners. Rego did that with Loiola, Ricardo and Allison (and maybe someone else) but he is the only one I an think of. The giant Dutch are a very good bet to medal. They are so consistent. Did I miss something or why would you think Phil and Nick are easily the no. 1 team on tour?? Bruno and Alison have been much better for most of the season and last year too Yes, Alison seems to be off right now but just look at the FIVB season ranking. They also beat Phil and Nick in the world tour finals in Florida last year and on some other occasions (furthermore they also won the Worlds). So to me it's clear that Alison/Bruno has been the no. 1 team for a while now.

In three of their wins they beat a top 5 team in the finals and in the other one they beat the Italians to win it. They have beaten every important team at least once this summer. Bruno/Allison have played 5 and won 1. That should end the discussion but in case it doesn't, Allison Bruno beat the Italians to get their win. The Italians are the best team they have beaten all year. Their record against the other four gold medal contenders this year is 0-3

The ranking is also skewed a bit too, as Phil and Nick have played in less GS and Majors than the Brazilians. Alison and Bruno started off 2015 not so hot though.
