Well, it's MB week. Let's take a look at who is playing this year(and who isn't). 32 team Main draws 16 Main draw AVP teams 8 Zonal qualifiers from AVP Next 8 from MB qualifier Women's side: Biggest omission are Kerri & April. They are starting their Rio push. No Sarah and Kelly either On the biggest addition, complete opposite is our other USA Olympic team of Brooke & Lauren. This is their 1st 2016 AVP and Brooke only played 1 in 2015, not sure where they will fall seeding wise. In total, there are 84 women's teams signed up. There hasn't been this many teams for MB since 2009! Tons of youngsters playing, both HS and college. Also some ex- indoor National team members. bvbinfo.com/Tournament.asp?ID=3228Men's side: Biggest addition, Tri and John!! making their 1st AVP of 2016. Not sure their is a big omission on the men's side, both teams going to Rio are planning on playing. Here are your top 6 (in no order): Billy Allen/Theo Brunner Tri Bourne/John Hyden Taylor Crabb/Trevor Crabb Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena Ryan Doherty/John Mayer Jake Gibb/Casey Patterson With another 4 teams right on their heels. bvbinfo.com/Tournament.asp?ID=3227

Interesting slick with Rogers. Why not ty? You guys think he would do better with Rogers or ty? I think ty by a slim margin.

Is there a bracket or schedule? I couldn't find anything yet on the AVP site and it seems like it'll be a bit chaotic with that many teams.

The bracket isn't up yet, probably won't see it until late Weds I'm guessing. Some really interesting entries on the women's side. The Lindquist sisters; indoor pros Klineman and Hildebrand; Mirkovic/Plummer, who will be playing in the U-19 world championships in a few weeks; and the one that really caught my eye - Xi Zhang, playing with Jess (Gysin) Clausen. Xi is an Olympic medalist and former world champion who probably won around 20 world tour events. Hasn't played in a few years, but she's still only 31. The women's qualifier is going to be just brutal with all the college players entered. Claes/Hughes are playing an international event in (I think) Estonia. Little surprised at the last minute Fendrick/Sweat entry.

Also, would like to hear how Dykstra does too, she should be seeded decent playing with Kelly Schumacher.

I saw the Xi Zhang entry as well. However, my daughter was told when she wanted to play with a collegiate friend who is from Poland that the AVP would not allow anyone who was not a US citizen to play. Was that correct or does Xi Zhang have a Green Card (and does that work)? Thanks.

I watched Alix play in a qualifier about 10 years ago when she was still in HS with Stephanie Barry. They represented well as I remember albeit against marginal competition and more than likely just playing for something to do. But they for sure had the support of the home crowd behind them and gave it all they had out there.

Anyone know anything about Brian Cook - looks like a player for Stanford's indoor team. He's playing with Kessel. Have always wondered if Kessel can get a player that may allow him to play a little defense too.

Claes/Hughes are playing an international event in (I think) Estonia. Little surprised at the last minute Fendrick/Sweat entry. The Witts are also going to Estonia (or wherever Claes/Hughes is). I think the USAV HP is holding some event during the week too, so there's probably some players there that might normally be taking a swing at the qualifier (and vice versa). Not sure what the health status is for Fendrick/Sweat but it seems like a good opportunity to put their name on the pier. Same for the other teams that are normally stonewalled by Walsh/Ross at the top.

She doesn't fly around the sand like Hughes, but moves very well for her size.

Plummer is U19? Can she match Hughes' "legitimacy"? Gysin/Xi Zhang would be fun to watch....

Alix Klineman was in the MBO qualifier in 2006 with Geena Urango. BVBDB says they went 0-1, though I could have sworn they won at least one match. My faulty memory, I guess.

Klineman played quite a bit of beach before enrolling at Stanford. I think she spent some time in the USAV beach high performance group. But indoor was always her primary focus.
