How does Plummer move in the sand? Is she a legit 6'6? She is every bit of 6'6." She doesn't fly around the sand like Hughes, but moves very well for her size. How great would it be to see her against the Lindquists. Also Kerri/April skipping Manhattan just stinks. Absent injury there is simply no excuse for it. If it were San Francisco or Manhattan then fine, but this is Manhattan. I think this is worse than Burik. (and look what Karma did to his season)

You need a green card, and you cannot be attempting to qualify for the Olympics for another country.

Klineman played quite a bit of beach before enrolling at Stanford. I think she spent some time in the USAV beach high performance group. But indoor was always her primary focus. And probably will be in the future, give the type of $$ she can make indoors. Too bad though. While I think she'll probably get rolled by a couple of 18 year olds in the qualifier, if she could dedicate full-time to the beach, I could see her developing into a Sarah Pavan-type player. She's such a rare combination of height and ball control.

Anyone know anything about Brian Cook - looks like a player for Stanford's indoor team. He's playing with Kessel. Have always wondered if Kessel can get a player that may allow him to play a little defense too. No Derek Olson, since Casebeer dumped him for Rosey seems like he stopped, which sucks. People keep talking about Kessel, that is who Derek should pick up, would have to go back to the quali for an event or two but might be worth it to get a young stud blocker. Obviously don't see why Cody would say no, would jump his rank up tremendously.

Cody has an indoor primary focus right now and isn't full time beach. I hope that changes but he makes real good money overseas. He's also wanted to represent USA in the Olympics, and the indoor team is completely jam packed with young outside studs. I wonder if he could have some success in Beach and get some better partners that it may change his tune, but I would think with the type of money kids can get overseas that's really hard to pass up for a while anyways.

Derek played one with Ratledge, and also showed up at Mission Beach Open last weekend with Araiza, so he's still around, but I'd guess he's just going to wait until next season to regroup and figure out a partner.

Derek is getting up there and has only had pretty limited success. Possibly packing it in?

How do Tracy and Katie get to have to play in the qualifier? Yes, I know they have only played once together this year, but they took a 9th. A quick check of some of the unknown names in the draw shows no history whatsover of ever even playing in an AVP event. If they just partner up with someone who has played multiple tournaments, even though their best finish was like an 89th, should they get in??? The sisters should be grandfathered in somehow and given the respect they deserve for all those years of high finishes that most of these girls will most likely never know. That one 9th after a long hiatus should garner more points then just paying your $100 ten times and losing your first match. Just sayin'.....

The no-names in the main draw you see are probably AVPNext champions.

The no-names in the main draw you see are probably AVPNext champions. I think the 16 seeded main draw teams are all based on current AVP points. The eight AVPNext winners won't be seeded until the qualifier is complete. I like Tracy and Katie, and think they were good for the tour back in the day - undersized, scrappy, dig everything under the sun etc...but honestly, they never made a final - much less winning an event - and were a team you could pretty much pencil in for 7th-13th place. Having the #1 seed in the MBO qualie seems about right.

The no-names in the main draw you see are probably AVPNext champions. On the women's side, one of those no names ( Anne Osburn / Megan Rice) won the last NVL, and took a 3rd in the 1st one. They've been doing well on the FL tours. Here are their last 3 matches in Texas NVL: C4: d. Chara Harris / Jennifer Snyder (4) 21-17, 21-17 SF: d. Kristen Batt-Rohr / Priscilla Piantadosi-Lima (2) 21-15, 21-16 F: d. Raquel Ferreira / Karolina Sowala Marciniak (1) 21-15, 13-21, 15-13

Men's quali is gonna be a long grind. Three rally score matches is a "long grind?" Ron Von Hagen (if he weren't still alive) would be rolling over in his grave.
