In case anyone wasn't aware, avp.com/live is up and running today. Glad they are live streaming Friday for once. Still they make terrible choices on which matches to show. Fendrick/Sweat in the first round? Women's early round actions is always awful, much less in a 32 team draw. Its a fact of life that low ranked men are much more exciting than low ranked women, I wish the AVP would realize that and schedule accordingly Now we get Fendi/Sweat against Day/Hochevar rather than Phil v Sean or Brunner v Bourne Minor revolt on the AVP chat. Announcer mentions that Stadium Court is women and men alternating.

Some strange results. Loomis/Lorenz beat Hudson/Mark only because Hudson choked a little. Then they went on and whipped Casebeer/Rosie.
Also how good would Rodriguez/McColloh be if they were with more appropriate partners

Crabbs break through in a big way. Much bigger win than the scores indicate. Both in this match and against Doherty, Taylor was a man today. Swinging without fear.
Of course now we get yet another Fendrick/Sweat match streamed

My buddy says Bates got tired again during the first set? Does he have issues with conditioning?

My buddy says Bates got tired again during the first set? Does he have issues with conditioning? I think part of that comes from where he lives. Practicing in Northern Virginia is always going to leave you a little leg weary when you have to go to deep real beach sand. His general conditioning should be good having been solid enough to withstand Pottstown (sideout scoring, East Coast heat and humidity - nothing in LA compares) Hudson does carry a lot of muscle though. To me I dont know if it was weariness as much as getting blocked a ton. Kendra downs Fendi/Sweat. Ladies and gentlemen your 2016 Olympians!

Ya and the last FIBV tourney Fendi/Sweat beat WalRoss in a pool play match so whats your point? Heck at least they are playing. In a pool play match. In a meaningless, waste of time, only exists because the FIVB has their heads up their ass, pool play match. Pool play is so important that before the FIVB started forcing teams to play, they regularly chose to forfeit pool play matches. My larger points are first that Fendi/Sweat are awful and its an embarrassment that the country that invented beach volleyball doesn't have anybody better to send and second that it stinks that when there are interesting matches all over the event the AVP chooses to show three of their matches on the stream. It wasnt only me that felt that way, every commenter on the AVP stream seemed to share my sentiments

Besides Brazil 1, Germany 1 and the USA1 teams I would say the rest of the world has not been consistent. Fendi and Sweat stink is not true. They are 13th of 24 going into the Olympics. About the middle of the pack. We just got spoiled always having elite teams before.

Their world tour ranking this year for events this year is 19th...
Pretty crummy considering how they have had a high seed all year and should be able to always break pool with a match against a qualifier.

Brooke and Kendra are old partners and I think they both know each other's game and want to beat each other really bad. Kendra has always played Brooke tough. Brooke beat them last fivb in a battle in 3. Kendra was in there pool and went 0-3 and Brooke went 3-0. Weird how all jay works out. Kendra is just one of those teams that somewhat has there number. I agree tho being the #2 USA team they should lose to them.

Fantastic defender and I admire how she, and Kendra, have both gotten the most possible out of their athletic ability. Would love to see those two form a Lindquist style team. That might also make both interesting to watch whereas now, its like watching the finals of an EEVB event

Given their play the last two rounds, it looks like the Crabbs winning their first event is a very strong possibility. (I think Phil and Nick win, but if not them then the Crabbs).
Has anyone since Randy Stoklos won their first tournament at Manhattan?
