(Figured there should be a thread for discussion about other non-us matches and didn't want to start a thread for just one single match.)
Cuba playing tough against Evandro/Pedro. Won 1st match 24-22 and went overtime in the 2nd match to lost 23-21. Great back and forth action so far.

Diaz/Gonzales of Cuba get the win 15-13 in the third over Evandro/Pedro. Crowd was going crazy for parts of it. Was more competitive than the US/Can indoor (was watching both at same time).

Germany makes quick work of Egypt on the women's side. No real surprise there.

In 3 matches now I've seen teams take their timeouts 1 or 2 points before the technical timeout. Seems like a bit of a waste, but I guess they don't want to wait for another point when they feel one is needed.

Schalk/Saxton(CAN) vs Samoilovs/Smedins(LAT) going on now. Latvia with game 1 but down 2 now in 2nd. Samoilovs did just get an ace on a running jump float that was shanked by Canada

Canada wins 21-18 in 2nd. Was a great rally by LAT on 1st setpoint of Canada. Went back and forth like 6 times.

The top 2 3rd place teams make Round of 16. Then then final 4 3rd place teams play (called lucky loser playoff) to make Round of 16 where 3rd plays 6th and 4th plays 5th with winners making Round of 16

Latvia was back and forth down 1-2 points for a bit but got two in a row serving to get ahead 14-13. Canada got dug and then on their second attempt put it out of bounds. Thought Canada was going to get that one towards the end there before Latvia pulled it out at the last minute. Fun match to watch.

Was fun match to watch. The Cubans seem to be a strong team. Didn't really expect that. But now it's clear that Pool D is a tough one!

The team from Qatar just won a set against Spain to force a 3rd game. It's the Qatar team that lost to USA.

Crazy. Wasn't expecting that one at all. Haven't watched as much women's but there has been some real battles on the men's side by teams that are underdogs.
Alison/Bruno vs Doppler/Horst coming up in about an hour and then Gibb/Patterson vs Huber/Seidl in just over 2 hours from now.

This pool could turn into a big mess. C&J at least have the point Diff. advantage so far.
