Pool D in men's has been an absolute treat to watch. Three clearly underanked teams in Somoilovs/Smedins (#1 this year's tour), Schalk/Saxton (#7 this year's tour), the relatively unknown Cubans who don't compete on the world tour, along with Evandro/Pedro All three games so far have gone down to the wire in the 3rd, where the Cubans pulled a huge upset over Brazil, and the Canadians went 13-15 against Latvia and 16-14 against Brazil. Just now the Cuba vs Latvia game finished and Cuba proved their first win was not a fluke, winning the game in 3 sets Both the final 2 matches are going to be nuts. Canada could win the pool with a Win Vs. Cuba ( 2 way tie for 1st, depends on Points) Or, if they lose and Brazil Wins, they could finish 4th (3 way tie for 2nd, would come down to Points against LAT, Brazil would be 2nd has the higher Pt Diff and would improve w/ a win)

Pool F for men's, every team is 1-1. (Jake and Casey pool)
Everyone is playing for 1st, and not to finish last!

Can't believe Brazil is facing being knocked out with a loss. They were my pick to win it at home. Need to look out for the fans if they don't get into the playoffs.

Men's Beach is the best it's ever been on an international level. Almost half of these teams could conceivably finish in the top 4. The margin for error for the best teams in the world is very small and it just goes down from there. I also love seeing the different sizes of teams. Makes me really excited for the Crabb brothers' future together instead of apart.

Dutch win but Varenhorst was just a big oaf in this one. Reinder best guy out there at age 42. Amazing how wide open this tournament is given that the 1 and 2 seeds in each pool havent played each other yet

I think he may have had eight blocks.

I dont like how the R1 holds the server till TV gets through showing the replay. This could seriously affect momentum at some point.

The swiss player (heidrich I think?) looked like she was in serious distress with her knee, but she managed to finish out the game so hopefully she's alright.

Bawden/Clancy take Pool F with a 3-set thriller over the Dutch. Maybe I'm looking too far ahead but if WalRoss take care of business today and in their Round of 16, the Aussies would be their quarterfinal opponent. WalRoss leads the series 4-0 and the Aussies haven't been great this year with a top finish of 5th so this is very winnable match.

If Qatar wins this in the 3rd, does that mean Jake and Casey are out since they'll tie with AUT and AUT has a better points ratio?

Alison/Bruno Schmidt BRA vs.Carambula/Ranghieri ITA match going on now. BRA has to win by a handful of points to get 1st place (and not face Phil/Nick pre finals)

Down goes Alison, looks like his right ankle. Might have made contact with Adrian on the landing. He just got helped to the bench and wasn't putting much weight on it.
EDIT: Alison sat on the bench for a couple minutes and then came back out to play. His first play back he had to dash right to block and he looked like it hurt him a little. Italy is serving him now and he looks like he's moving a little gingerly and definitely not jumping his best. I'm guessing he'll power through this match but it might be pretty sore tomorrow.
