The video surveillance cameras were everywhere and they played them in the intro to tonight's prime time airing, and I think it was Bob Costa narrating...LOL
These guys (US swimmers) were acting like common thugs or bullies in the video. It showed them getting out of the cab and going (staggering) into the convenience store and then ripping down a sign hanging on a wall while another camera showed two of them vandalizing the bathroom and the door appeared damaged. There was an unarmed security guard in the store that confronted them about the actions and damage and he explained they surrounded him and made threats then left. There were two other security guards across the street that came over and when told what happened the securty guard in a uniform (shows on video) and armed pulled his gun and aims it at the swimmers in the car and tells them to get out (all of this was being shown on NBC without audio though and being described by Costa). A person walking by that knew English got involved to translate and told the swimmers they were responsible for the damages to the store and they could pay the shop keeper or they would be held there while the police were called. The swimmers gave them $50 and were let go.
The funny thing is once the police viewed all the video footage they grabbed the remaining 3 swimmers for questioning and they all rolled on Lochte who was the ringleader and supposedly did most of the damage and made the threats in the store.
For NBC to show the video and narrate through it means they feel very confident this was an accurate account.
Talk about being an Ugly American! Lochte is a giant douche and should have to go back to Rio and make an apology in person to the people of Rio.
