Now the real question is will Karch take Courtney in 2020? Same reasoning that she was taken here hold up in 2020? The next question is what two players do we scapegoat in order to win silver in 2020?

Can someone fill me in on Karch's coaching experience? Is this his first head coaching job? Sure. He has a long and storied career as a head coach. He first coached Santa Barbara High School to the CIF finals in 2 out of 3 years, winning the championship the third year before leaving to coach UCLA. SBHS was undefeated his last year as coach, dropping something like 3 sets all season. Olmstead still shows up in some records, but everyone knows who the head coach was. He coached UCLA to 3 NCAA championships in 4 years (losing in the final the other year), before moving on to the national scene. Again, some records still list an A. Scates as coach, but it was common knowledge who the coach really was. He then split his time between coaching the USA men to 2 gold medals while also coaching the top beach team in the world. His first experience firing a prima donna came when he had to let Sinjin Smith go to improve his beach team on the way to the first beach gold medal. I think you are already aware of his more recent history. That made me laugh…

I actually like Thompson as a player and as a person from what I've read about her but if she was brought to Rio for her mental toughness instead of Fawcett, then does this result show that was a mistake? Maybe a hitter who could have more court time could be a better fire for a team when they are down.

I have to agree any arm would have been better than having Thompson, of course, this is hindsight thinking. I am thinking if Hooker is on the team, Foluke goes down, panic sets in like it did, there is no way the team fights back like it did. We have proof of that from London. I just feel so bad for this group as they fought so hard to regroup and come back to go five and come so close.
Destinee is Destinee. She made her bed anyone bitching was hoping for this outcome so they could say I told you so. Class.

I thought we'd already been told that the player we needed was Plum. This talk about Hooker confuses me. She wouldn't let Lowe run an approach pattern mimicking Korean celebration dance circles. PROGRAM SEDITION = ELIMINATION PROTOCOL. USA staff and expert fans are disappointed you have not provided setting breakdown analysis for the matches.

Foluke was a huge loss and they struggled mightily to right the ship, losing the first two games without her. But they did right the ship. They adjusted and unlike London where they folded like a cheap suit, they fought back and they were in position to win. That was actually quite impressive. I don't think they lost the first two games.

Why are we dragging Lauren Plum into this? Really unfair that some psycho kept mentioning her and now she's a laughtingstock joke for volleytalk
