This is a little crazy to look at 4 years out, especially after all the changes that happened in the last two years of this quad. But it's fun to discuss. Women's Beach: Hughes/Claes and April Ross/??. I don't see a great young blocker for April yet, but she'll get into Tokyo somehow. Men's Beach: who knows. I'll say Tri Bourne/Taylor Crabb and Skylar Del Sol from the NVL with Patterson Women's Indoor: S: Kreklow, Carlini OH: Hill, Robinson, Vansant, Hodson. I agree that Robinson's all around game is going to keep her around for a while. MB: Dixon, Adams, Anjanaku (Alhassan might sneak in here) OPP: Lowe, Murphy. Hooker would be nice here, but I'll believe it when I see it. L: Hagglund Men's Indoor: S: Christenson, Shaw OH: Sander, Russell, Jaeschke, Brian Cook MB: Holt, Smith, Jendryk OPP: Anderson, Patch (Troy might be in this mix too) L: E. Shoji best one yet. Again let me say it as loud as I can.... Lloyd does NOT bring anything to the table- Glass is better than her in every aspect!! Don't know what KK was smoking when he picked her to go to Rio

Carlini and Hancock Banwarth Larson, Robinson, Hodson Alhassan, Holman, Adams, Foluke (if she decides to continue) Lowe, Hill (was an opposite at Pepperdine, would be better in this role due to her ball control issues)

A lot of folks have been asking why certain players are staying from that '08-'09 era. From what I know, it looks something like this:
Akinradewo will be 29 in October, and has aspirations to be a doctor. So while she could stay another quad (and only be 33), knowing you've got at least 4 years of schooling is a factor.
Larson will be 30, and has spoken of wanting a family. She's the best bet to stay for another quad in my mind, but she was talking about leaving prior to Rio.
Banwarth chose to be a volunteer coach for Pepperdine's men this year and didn't play overseas. She's probably the most ready to move along.
Dietzen is also only 29, but the depth in the middle pushes her out.
Thompson is 31, and could hang for another quad. But like Dietzen, the depth pushes her out. She'd be a great assistant coach.
Glass is only 28, but she's had some injury issues that kept her out of London and out of the 2015 Grand Prix. So I'm not counting on her.
The current staff seems to like bigger, more physical setters. That's why I chose Kreklow and Carlini. They're both young, and I think Carlini not starting most of the Pan Am's is going to make her even more motivated. With those two, Hancock, Lloyd, and possibly Glass, setting won't be an issue.
I also see Hill's passing improving, and Vansant taking a step forward. You mix in a couple of current college players, and it's a nice team.

USA Volleyball has confirmed that both Christa Dietzen and Courtney Thompson announced their retirement after the bronze medal match. So unless they change their minds and make a comeback, we can count them out.

I'm a Longhorn, Texas native, live in Texas. But, some of y'all are nuts. When was the last time Ebony was healthy and performed at her freshman year level? Do we really think that her chronic back issues can hold up amidst a professional/USA quad? When was the last time Hooker a) completed and b) performed against high caliber, international competition? Lots of y'all are making assumptions based upon the past and not present or future. Not sure what you have been watching in regards to Ebony. She is a much better player today than she was as a Freshman. As for her health, she and Coach Elliott understand she has a future playing professionally and will be managing her practice and playing time accordingly.

Bartsch hasn't been mentioned here, but she's been improving her game rapidly and climbing up the depth chart. We'll see how she does in Italy this year.

In 4 years, hmm OH:VanSant and Hodsen would be good additions, as of right now, along with Hill and Robinson Middles: Inky, Adams. How old is Foluke? OPP: Lowe is already dominant, and a few more years to mature, she might be the best in the world. Hamson, if she plays vball. Setter: Carlini, and someone else Libero: Hagglund. For beach: I think Walsh and Ross will make one more go. But Claes and Hughes might end up being the best beach team in the world by then, if they stay together For Men: OH: Matt Anderson, Sander, Russell, Jaschke Middles: Holt, David Smith Opp: Patch Setters: Micah, James Shaw Libero: Shoji extreme outside wild card: Jake Langlois. Still so raw but upside is insane. For beach men: Crabbe brothers.

Who knows about indoor, there are so many players to choose from. Sand is a much easier story. How can anyone not think Claes and Hewes won't be the top team by then? If they stay together and work for the next 3+ years, they should be unstoppable. Sponsors should line up when they graduate from USC following this season.

I love Hagglund. If she can pass, she's the future libero. Everything else she does is outstanding. This is assuming Banwarth is done, of course.

Skylar and Patterson??? Seriously? That team wouldn't win an avp event. Casey isn't even a good blocker let alone a world class one. Skylar hasn't even proved that he can be a main draw avp player.

Isn't Larson playing another two years in Turkey? From what I heard early this year she was in the process of getting a divorce. Hence going back to just Larson.
