CQ are today, looks like Day/Hochevar beat Lane/Ledoux in 2. On the Men's Allen/Slick vs. Rosenthal/Crabb hasn't happened yet, winner goes into the Quali. In the Men's MD BRUNNER/PATTERSON GIBB/CRABB TA. LUCENA/DALHAUSSER Women's MD teams CLAES/HUGHES FENDRICK/ROSS SWEAT/SUMMER In the Quali DAY/HOCHEVAR FIVB link: worldtour.2017.fivb.com/en/447Semi's and Finals live streamed on youtube: www.fivb.com/en/about/news/moscow-semifinals-and-finals-to-be-streamed?id=68374&sf83663079=1****The tournament format will be played in two phases, i.e. a first phase of modified pool play of eight pools per gender with four teams per pool; the top three ranked teams will advance to the second phase, which will be played in single elimination format for a bracket of 24 teams. This will be: • To increase the number of teams in the Qualification Tournament from 16 to 24 per gender. • To adopt the same competition format as for the Rio 4-Star event (modified pool play followed by the single elimination bracket of 24 teams), for the Main Draw tournament of the above mentioned 3-star tournaments.

Casey tweeted this two hours ago. Insane. He needs a new travel agent. How can he function 36 hours from now at a high level tourney?
@caseypatt
26 hours of travel down. Only a 3 hour flight along with the 1.5 hour shuttle to the hotel left.

Day/Hochevar won both their matches to reach the MD.
Allen/Slick won their 1st, waiting for 2nd match, should be a tough match vs. Júlio/Ahmed Tijan from QAT

Qualifiers are no joke this year. Varenhorst loses in the first round. I am sure there is math behind it but how is Christian, defending champ and a guy who is been near the top of the tour for years now, the 22 seed in the qualifier while Allen and Slick are the 10 seeds and a German team with one career non 25th place is seeded 9th.
Of course the shellacking they took argues the seed was correct.

If I remember he may not of made it out of the last Qualifier

Holy S##t I just realized this tournament is single elim or maybe I had forgotten. This should be really interesting. Especially with a cold rainy forecast. Doesn't bode well for the middle-aged US contingent, but should be a lot of fun. Anyone have any idea how to watch?

The pools are up, Phil&Nick have Gibb/Crabb in their's. in the opening post, I posted the link for the youtube channel they are showing the semis and finals on.

Single elimination? I thought it was pool play but if you win your first match you come out 1 or 2 seed in your pool depending on if you win your second match. And if you lose your first match your next match will be for 3rd in pool. Winners play winners and losers play losers in pools
