Nebraska takes a successful Big Ten start into the fieldhouse Wednesday evening, to be televised on BTN @ 8 PM. Disappointed Badger fans as well as the elderly Badger fans who can't stay up so late will likely sit on their comfy couches and watch the match, angering those in attendance and those Nebraska fans who paid $100 just to get a hard to find ticket to see the now swooning Badgers. Live stats (currently locked on a sad ending): www.sidearmstats.com/wisconsin/wvball/BTN2g0, also live BTN: www.btn2go.com/game/nebraska-at-wisconsin-on-10112017Radio: www.iheart.com/live/1009-fm1070-am-7273/No match notes, as it's a Wednesday match. May appear later.

don't have a great feeling about this one. huskers have had a really tough stretch in Big Ten and came out unscathed. with badgers at home, just think this will be a struggle. feel a hiccup coming-----badgers in 4. really hope i am wrong.

This will be an interesting match for many reasons. One thing I'll look at is to see how Nebraska responds playing in Madison. The last time Nebraska played at Wisconsin was in 2014 correct? That would mean the only players who would have been at that game would be Hunter (redshirted that year), Boender (redshirted), Townsend, and Albrecht.

Welcome to Wisconsin, hopefully the Corny ladies show the same amount of fight the corny men's "football team" did this past weekend. Really need Gillis and Bates to step up and show their leadership qualities and actual skills. Sheff can't be tentative, if Duello or Gillis get in a funk, yank them and put in one of the highly regarded freshman. Last season, Dunning decided to start a freshman setter over a senior who had waited 3+ years for her chance. That decision gave them the championship. The year before Cook benched two seniors - Haggerty and Ostrander in favor of the twins and a freshman in Foecke. They won it all. Not saying Loberg or Rettke on the right would be the difference but losing in 5 over and over when only a few points would have made the difference.............

I would love to see this go to five. The home crowd will make the difference if they are loud and rowdy.

Nebraska will be looking to quiet the crowd from the get go. Badgers will have to battle at the beginning to keep control of the match away from the huskers so they don't lose the crowds energy. The crowd really needs to get behind these badgers right now. It's a critical point. They have to feel that the home crowd has their backs.

The players have to give the crowd a reason to get loud and involved in the match. If Nebraska never lets the Badgers build any momentum, the crowd will be quiet and restless and not an advantage at all. If the Badgers come out and play the way they're capable...with confidence...then the crowd will be an obvious ally. Though, as wiswell points out, the late start time will likely make it a smaller ally. 8 pm is a fairly inconvenient start time.

I would love to see this go to five. The home crowd will make the difference if they are loud and rowdy. You mean like the other two times it went 5 at home???? Agree with badgerbreath. An already apprehensive Badger crowd will go quiet early if the Huskers dominate the first set. And then it will be over because the team will feel the same.

While I understand the process you're describing, as the same thing happens at Devaney, I've always thought it backasswards. It's always been my feeling that as part of the crowd it's my responsibility to help the team fight through tough stretches during the match by increasing my level of support and cheering loudly. IMO, it's not the team's job to get me involved but my job to help get the team to perform at their peak level. That means cheering when they need it the most, not just when they're ahead comfortably.

Given the year we've had, it would only make perfect sense for Wisconsin to win.

Nebraska in three, unless Wisconsin changes its lineup. Wisconsin just hasn't shown anything to indicate that it has the ability to play at a consistent high level for the duration of an entire match. If you look at five of the last six sets they've played, they look like they're regressing vs. progressing.
Still think that Gillis, Duello, and MacDonald need to find spots on the bench.

We need to stop this skid. Tomorrow night would be a great opportunity.
