Hey anyone notice that some of the activities for Gopher fans are during the Wisconsin-Baylor match. I'm going to the game. Noticed that, the championships I've been to in the past MN always played the first match so never ran into not being able to go to the send off. I'll be watching the first match too.

posted most of this on the match thread
I'd hoped that we would see a continually improving MN performance Has anyone at any time seen a ref call a throw? If so, please identify the match, the set and the score. Plummer doesn't need the assist I'd swear she threw two kills in the third set.
I was disappointed that MN was unwilling to pressure Stanford's serve reception. Their serve in Austin was much better.dd Kudos to the Cardinal for excellent passing. I thought MN's floor defense was pretty good, but their passing on the serve not so much. Miller was bump setting on the second contacts WAY too much. Congrats to Hart who went out with a memorable performance. Rollins reverted to rabbit form, unwilling to attack after being stuffed early. Allowing a good opponent a free ball is a recipe for failure. MN was true to form all season re. tips: they don't tip well and they don't cover tips well.
MN could have beaten Stanford but it would have required outperformance across the board and playing in system which they were not able to do. imo, Morgan Rollins & McGraw underperformed. Pittman was marginalized by poor passing and didn't seem to have many attempts.
MN overcame a lot of adversity this year and went deeper in to the tournament than most of us probably expected. I haven't seen the stats, but Stanford is hard to beat when playing a 'normal' game. When you have opponents playing above themselves you aren't going to prevail.

I didn't think I could stomach reading through the match thread, so I came over here to "safer" quarters. Plummer was something else, and I'm glad the Gophers never have to face her again. Now she can move on to Team USA where we can all pull for her.
I recall discussion during the year (probably from Ruffda) about how this team could exit in the 2nd or 3rd round or make the Final 4, and that was spot on. They were fortunate to reach the sweet 16 and then took it even further. I hope they had a wonderful experience at the Final 4 (minus what happened on the court last night). Hopefully the seniors can savor the memories, and the rest of the team can use it to push them further next year. So glad for the seniors who got to cap their collegiate career with a Final 4. Will sure miss seeing them on the court in 2020. Really happy for Kylie who endured such a rough year (injuries) - this must certainly confirm her decision to transfer to MN.
Now we start the long wait until Spring season and seeing some of the new players.

It was a disappointing loss - not the fact of losing to Stanford, but just that MN could never really get it going and at least pressure Stanford a little bit. I just said this in another thread - the match was like their whole season - flashes of great play, lots of talent, could see potential for more, but it never all came together.
Of course Gopher fans are disappointed and you don't want to be satisfied. But, really, think about the ups and downs of the season - and it ended with another trip to the FF - which is amazing (especially considering that second round match v. Creighton). As a fan, you take the good with the bad and this season was overwhelmingly good for different reasons. Of course the FF result is part of the good. But, also just the adaptability and perseverance of the team as it dealt with uncertainty and patchwork of shifting lineups.
So, Kudos to MN for making something big of a season that could have come off the rails. And, kudos to Stanford for the big win.

This season was quite memorable and interesting. We saw Hugh go to the bench a lot, which was different for him. I'm glad to see the seniors get back to the final four. I'm thankful that we have a lot of talent coming back next year and a lot of new talent incoming. Additionally all 3 primary passers will be back.

It was so frustrating to watch last night, as Plummer was nearly unstoppable for most of the match.
Once they stuffed the middle early, we never really got back to that and Hart was our only offensive option. A lot of that was due to the passing of course.
I was shocked to see Samedy had more kills than Hart, but then looked at set 3 where Steph had 9 kills. Too bad she couldn't get that going a little earlier.
Was sad to see Hart and Morgan play their last matches for the Gophers, they will be missed.

http://instagram.com/p/B6SD-CfpyDY This was hard to watch but Hart should be very proud of herself. To me, she returned to her freshman form where she was fearless and unstoppable when Minnesota needed it. She hit smart and with range and helped this team get back to a Final Four. I'm definitely going to miss seeing her and Morgan's smiles shining on the court.

I guess I was just hoping that this MN team would show up for the FF game yesterday and play a competitive match that we know they are capable of. It did not happen and I feel it leaves me with more questions than answers pertaining to the underclassmen on this team. Is it as simple as SSS making a difference and/or the players themselves?
We have the #1 recruiting class coming in next season and 2-3 players that saw some playing time this year who will be looking to fill 3 open positions do to graduation. Personally, I feel our back court needs to improve the most.
Yes, although this season had many highs and lows, it certainly was a great achievement for this team. I just did not want it to be played out the way it did.
