UCLA has some strong upside, but they're pretty vulnerable- they've traditionally been a great ball handling team and this year's really isn't. They've been better since they went to a 6-2, adding RS Lexi Hadrych, who's been very productive. They have two miniature outsides- RS Jenny Mosser (5'11") hasn't been very effective, but 5'10" (maybe) Savvy Simo has been a revelation as a hitter, and Mac May is one of the best. They can be dangerous, but their passing is iffy as is floor defense. The block is also iffy, as is the setting- both the block and the passing were really on in the Stanford match; I don't know what was with Stanford, though, they really didn't play well. But UCLA can be very dangerous when everything's working. Hambly said Stanford's worst passing match of the season was against UCLA in Los Angeles. The reason for the bad passing was McClure and Hentz could not practice during the week due to injuries, but they did play in the match. Plummer was still injured too. I guess what I'm saying is that result was sort of an outlier. May will get kills if the sets are well located because she is that good. UCLA's middle attack is pretty good too, but they rarely pass good enough to get big numbers from their middle hitters. The rest of their pin hitters have various issues. Simo is very good for her height and crafty, but OOS she'll probably just try to keep the play alive. Moser and Hadrych hit with power, but sometimes they miss the court or get blocked (because they think they can beat the block when they should be tooling it).

Looks like these games will be on BTN+ which is just as bad as longhorn for most people.
Minnesota is doing a live stream on Gophersports.com WKU is live streaming on their facebook page BYU has BYUtv
What is Wisconsin's/Big 10's issue? I know that BTN is fully booked with repeat football games on Friday from the 60's or whenever the already played games were played that they are showing but they could not find a way to actually show this?

I expect the Madison 2nd Round match will get on BTN on Saturday...especially if it involves UCLA vs. UW.

My fairly basic Comcast sports package on the west coast includes BTN (and SEC network)- presumably I can get BTN+ with that log in. Don't know about other providers.

I certainly agree that the result was an outlier- injuries may have caused passing problems, but UCLA passed exceptionally well too and incomprehensibly thrashed Stanford at the net , only partially due to passing. I thought losing 3 of 5 early in the season, 2 of them at home, was even more out of character and have no excuse for it- I just hope not to see that Stanford team again.

I see you and raise you ![](https://media.giphy.com/media/f4axclm6Bd0bVXxlI8/giphy.gif) This GIF is hilarious because it so not Haggerty, who is usually a very head-down-competitive down-to-business persona in the match.

So.....UCLA might win. But, they might lose. Noted. If Mac May & Co. play well, then they better hope Wisconsin doesn't. Because Wisconsin is the better team. They'll have to play below their best for another team to take this UCLA has been wildly inconsistent this season. They are talented group who as a team are a bunch of headcases. If they play well May and Simo are something Wisconsin has not really seen this season. I have to agree with Vader here. First, Vader will crush my throat if I disagree with him. Second, Wisconsin has seen virtually everything this year that the NCAA can throw at them. They won't be surprised or knocked off stride by these two. The issues for Wisconsin will be health, passing, and Hilley's wrist.

Anyone (that has internet access) can buy a month's subscription to BTN+ for $15 (they also offer a school-specific one-month subscription for $10 but I don't know how that would work with NCAA matches). There is no such subscription option for LHN that I'm aware of

Last year didn’t the NCAA mandate that all matches be available for free? I remembered them all being available on the ESPN streaming site, even if it was a BTN feed.

I thought that BTN+ streamed the first weekend matches gratis.

No. BTN+ is not included with having BTN as part of your package. It is a separate streaming service you have to pay for Hmph. Well, I suppose I'll find enough matches to watch somewhere. Big10 matches tend to be at impossible times of day out here, so I don't get as much out of it as I might. I think the tournament matches are all licensed from espn, so maybe they'll be available from them, as reruns anyway.

For the tournament they never make this clear ahead of time, though. Matches aren't even on the schedule at present.

FWIW I just emailed the BTN network and requested they publicly state if and when they're going to televise any of the first weekend NCAA tourney matches.
