I think it’s insane that anyone is viewing Callie as the teams liability, she was the underestimated player of the match in my opinion. Broken thumb and still got her blocks and M2 kills. If anything it’s your easy to read setter.

My thoughts exactly. Nebraska isn't winning this, Hawaii is making the mental mistakes and losing this.
Nebraska isn't really very impressive.
wait, so if Nebraska gives UH points via high error, it isn't Nebraska giving Hawaii a chance? It is only when Hawaii gives Nebraska errors that it is Hawaii giving Nebraska the game? Biased much? How about realizing that the competition drives more errors because there is less tolerances allowed? Oh I agree with you Huskerrob. Nebraska, though they didn’t play well in my opinion either, forced Hawaii to feel uncomfortable for most of the match. The players on the Hawaii team sans Brooke, Jolie and Kyra has no idea what the sweet 16 was like while for Nebraska making the round of 16 is pretty routine and it showed in the demeanor of both teams. But it is true that Hawaii had many opportunities to step on the throat but just mentally couldn’t do it while Nebraska took every opportunity to snuff out Hawaii and for that Nebraska is impressive. But I for one enjoyed this battle of the “blue bloods”. Hawaii and Nebraska have a lot to be grateful for as both programs have enjoyed much success. Best of luck to big red moving forward!

I thought I read somewhere that UH beach coach Jeff Hall will not play Nebraska again in the near future. He was saying something about wanting a more challenging schedule and a team like Nebraska really doesn’t help UH in terms of strength of schedule. Nebraska field a team to cross train and necessarily win. UH got nothing to gain from playing them.

111 pages for a sweep? But, two of the most passionate fan bases, so I sort of get it.

Brooke is the only player with sweet 16 experience., not Jolie or Kyra. And McKenna Ross had no sweet 16 experience but she balled out today. Hawaii’s errors in the first set (the only one I watch thus far) had nothing to do with Nebraska . Igiedi’s 2 net calls. Brooke just missing a cross court shot that was wide open, Noreen serving out badly on game 1 set point. That was all Hawaii. I haven’t watch the next two sets so can’t comment on that just yet.

Congrats Wahine! They were right there with Nebraska, especially in the first set. Just little errors here and there, and bad luck bounces. It was probably just meant to be this way, unfortunately. But, they had more than a successful season than anyone could’ve ever imagined they’d have this year. Too bad for the injury to Rasmussen, but her performances in the early season helped Hawaii get to host the subregional, IMO. Yes, of course there were many other heroic performances by other players in other big matches that helped to get Hawaii a seed in the tourney, but the UW, St Johns, SD wins that put the Wahine on the national radar this season, was something that would likely not have happened without Rasmussen. Going off tangent here, but anyway great season for Hawaii. They accomplished A LOT and you have to think things will only get better, but that’s a discussion for next year’s thread. The Sweet sixteen is a big accomplishment. Happy to see the Seniors and Okino get this far in their last year. The Wahine will finally be ranked in the Top 16 in the final AVCA poll for sure... hopefully higher than 16 though.
Admittedly, haven’t really kept up as much with the team after the Minnesota loss a few years back. But this year’s squad’s brought me back. And it’s awesome that I got to watch Iosia finish her career. This loss does sting but not because it’s a loss, but because it’s Nebraska🤮. Never like to lose to Nebraska... FWIW Wisconsin would’ve been OK to lose to if I had to choose. But I think what stings the most is to lose Iosia! Hawaii in general was extremely lucky to have her, especially during the rebuilding years under Ah Mow. She more than any of the other seniors probably should have left. But she stuck through and helped Hawaii get to the Sweet 16 for one of the very few times in the past decade. I doubt she’ll make 3rd team AA based on Hawaii’s early exit out of the Tourney today, but, I’ll pray for an outside chance!!!

I’ve nothing against Nebraska but I don’t see the benefit for the Beach Bows. Nebraska is like 3-60 in flights against Hawaii.

Okay you can definitely have that opinion but mines stands as of course Nebraska’s very presence on the other side of the net probably made the Hawaii players feel like the needed to do more. You could tell most of them were pressing because the moment was just too big at the time.

But then again you were the same person ripping Hawaii in their interview so you’re in your own world.

Technically, Brooke is the only one with experience. Jolie and Kyra watched from the bench, thats not experience. Nebraska was not playing particularly well in the beginning of set one while Hawaii looked to be more relax and energetic. I personally didn't see much resistance throughout most of set one from the Cornhuskers and Hawaii did not look uncomfortable. Unfortunately for Hawaii; there self-inflicted mistakes cost them that set. Going forward I do believe Hawaii started to press after losing set one and Nebraska began to play more steady volleyball.
