Callie had 1 kill and 2 errors and hit negative 111. and yet she wasn't the most underperforming Husker on the court. She can't go steal the ball from Hames to get more sets to balance her #'s out, so once the trend is lower than normal, she doesn't get the chance to hit her way out of it, like a freshman w/27 swings for a whopping 7k & 3E or like a Captain w/17 swings for a blistering 7k & 2E. I agree those players shouldn't take any flack for their performance, I just disagree that Callie should, when she shouldn't get any worse than any others. I thought Miller, Stivrins, Kubik, Schwarzenbach, & Densberger all under performed today. I thought this was a setback in Hames' location and tempo but she had an avg defensive game and ended up setting 12A/set...I just don't get why the same lot of naysayers comes out everytime Callie doesn't have a 6K game. She led the team in blocks and we won't even get into the difference in soft blocks, as she led that too. Because of all the Nebraska players who may have under-performed, she looks the most lost.

This will be the first time I will see Lexi Sun in action. I've never seen her play. You know who Lexi is now? Texas was reminded of what they were missing yesterday

What hurt the Wahine in this match was that the Freshmen started making Freshman mistakes. You cannot do that against a team like Nebraska. But for the Wahine sake, they still battled Nebraska. Did not make it easy for Nebraska to win this match. A match Nebraska should have won handily. Especially, when the Wahine had only 1 returning starter from a year ago, and just got back their main offensive threat in Jolie Rasmussen after almost 3 months recuperating from an injured ankle. Would love to see these two teams meet up next season, cause I strongly feel the outcome will be much different.

Looking at the stats Wahine had 23 errors! Dang that’s practically one set they gave the Huskers in free points. I think that’s the most they had all season for one match. Definitely not gonna win matches against teams like Nebraska with that many errors. ☹️ Something to work on. If they aren't playing teams like this on the regular than it's hard to really ID these flaws in the game that end up being deal breakers. Having said that I was really impressed with how they kept the Huskers in check. Undersized hitters, inexperienced players at this level…very impressive. If their energy didn't drop and they would've rode the wave I think the outcome may have at least led to a non sweep. It was funny to us as we sat in the stands and I checked VT. My daughter was saying "Hawai'i should be hitting line more, they're reading the cross court hits" and then it showed up on VT THEN it showed up in the game where the Bows were starting to hit line more. It was like we were all connected. Which we are.

I am at Wisconsin fan and watched the entire match in person. I wasn’t rooting for either team. In fact, before the match I told my wife I wanted it to go five sets and be a really competitive match. That being said, I don’t understand some of the comments on this thread. For starters, Hawaii came out with guns blazing. They were far from intimidated. They were the aggressor in set one and Nebraska had to adjust to Hawaii’s tempo. The first set was some really good volleyball.. Hawaii plays with a lot of emotion. I believe that starts with their head coach. Unfortunately, that worked against them when they lost set one. The body language by many of the team and coaches was dejected. They knew they probably should have won the first set. I think that really affected them because they didn’t put up the same level of intensity in the second set. Some of that was due to Nebraska’s adjustments. Some of that was due to the fact that Nebraska is really good. But I think if Hawaii would have won the first set, it would have been a very different match. Likely 5 sets. ^^ Exactly I started out not rooting for either one but Hawai'i and their heart won me over. I hope they can readjust with the same level of passion and commitment and come out guns blazing and maintain that next season.

She shows absolutely no emotion. Ever. Maybe a slight smirk for a block or kill. But to me she always looks like she's playing with no fire in her belly.

Brooke Van Sickle is undersized in stature but she’s all heart. McKenna Ross too. I was pleased with their play last night. I’m sure they were deflated after giving away the first set but Credit Nebraska. This Hawaii team is really a reflection of their coach. They play with passion, emotion and pride. Sad with the outcome of the match but very happy for Robyn, her staff, and her team. They have a great returning core with young players and great recruits. Hawaii Volleyball is back.

Who is it that sits right next to John Cook on the bench? It used to be Kayla, but now it's someone else - maybe a volunteer coach? It’s Andrew Sato who is the volunteer assistant this year.

Overall they did well. Who cares if they made freshman mistakes.. they are freshmen. Not to mention most of these girls haven’t played together pretty much at all before this season. They did a fine job. Let’s just be proud of them.
