There is a pretty severe bullying problem in Korean schools, which is probably why they are being punished to this extent. They want to use this as a message and example to show young people that bullying will not be tolerated. It just sucks that it is coming at the national team's expense. They should go after the twins' mother, who encouraged, enabled, and may have rewarded this behavior. Going after the twins looks nice but doesn't do much. Morally perhaps, but in practice, they don't have punishment on whole families.

If team chemistry is so bad between the twins and the rest of the team, never mind just KYK, then perhaps its best they part ways. Problem is, are the replacements any better?

We "can't" go after the perps because they were kids, so who's responsible? The mother obviously.

At this point the damage has been done. Even if the twins somehow made it back on the national team before for the VNL/Olympics the team chemistry would be completely shot. I agree that the timing of the victim coming out against the twins almost seems planned to do the most damage but what the twins did was horrible so it's deserved in my opinion. Honestly, if there really is so much animosity between the twins and KYK then maybe this is for the best. Would you rather have the twins or KYK? Dumb question. That being said, it's very unfortunate that this happened because the twins are both quite good and are essential parts to the success of the Korean National team. Lee Jaeyeong is the first Korean outside hitter, I've seen in a while, that can actually get kills pretty consistently, which is exactly who KYK needs as a 32 going on 33 year old. Kim Hee-jin is for sure going to need to step up this Olympics but her growth under their new coach has been tremendous so I'm optimistic. LJY has been playing as good, maybe better than KYK these last years. Not to mention the importance of the setter.... So I would pick the twins (all else being equal, but it's not since they don't have Kim's leadership qualities and can't get the team together)

You need solid evidence and a clear chain of causation to assign blame. It can't be based on innuendos. Unless it can be demonstratee clearly that their mother instructed them to engage in such specific conduct, you cannot assign culpability for the puporse of punishment on the mother.

That's absurd. In my opinion, they shouldn't be penalized for something they did as immature minors. This is too much. Basically just mental torture and stripping away their own livelihood. Who knows what's going on in their head right now. It's sick. I really liked the twins. I hope neither of you are placed in situations where you are expected to empathize with victims of trauma. Wow. Thanks boo ❤️❤️❤️

Also, part of the problem is the strict hierarchical structure of Korean society. Anyone senior than you gets to call the shots, you don't just refer to your seniors in school or on the team as your "big sister", they are like your boss who can order you around. That makes it easy for a senior to abuse their position to exploit juniors. Other countries with a strong Confucian culture, like Japan and China, also have this problem, but the issue is particularly serious in Korea.

going from basil 's post in the other thread... I think everyone would prefer Japan over Brazil lol but I think Brazil still has some big weaknesses.... their middles will be, especially with Thaisa not playing. Who is their libero?

Should we play same starters in VNL19? not really sure how we play against them in world cup.

Who is their libero? pretty sure it's Camila Brait, who was their libero at the 2014 WCh. She seems solid. No Fabi, but certainly no Courtney

I think the biggest thing for us is to limit Gabi... I think she had like 20 points in the VNL final... that's bad... very bad

In the final, I'm pretty sure Natalia played in the first two sets (which they won) and then was taken out because of injury in the next three...which we won.
